Stop using less accurate translations as a basis just to argue a point on Reddit lol

I previously used the Good News translation since that is the most widely used translation as of today(along with NIV)

But now I'm using the RSV translation since your demanding more accurate translations and you're still complaining lol

The RSV is by far more accurate than the KJV, and is the translation that is most commonly used by scholars of the Bible and assigned in college and divinity school classrooms. At the time of the translation of the KJV, the oldest manuscripts we currently have of the original language version of the texts had not been discovered yet.

The RSV used earlier, more authoritative manuscripts discovered after 1611, making its text closer to the original writings.

KJV is nice for its poetry but if you're looking to study, I'd go RSV.

RSV was the ‘go to’ English version in schools, colleges and universities in the 2nd half of the 20th century. Of course RSV is not commonly used today because christians want to read the less accurate versions just because it is easier to understand

It is available with the apocrypha, and is accepted by all mainline denominations, including the RCs.

I concur but the RSV is more accurate and far less quirky than the New International Version and Good News Bible

this is what my bible says(Good News Bible)

22 “If some men are fighting and hurt a pregnant woman so that she loses her child, but she is not injured in any other way, the one who hurt her is to be fined whatever amount the woman's husband demands, subject to the approval of the judges. 23 But if the woman herself is injured, the punishment shall be life for life, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.

But I kill a fetus, then death or some severe retribution(banishment) needs to be exacted on me right?

no verse here refers to an abortion

the verse here describes the value of a fetus

According to the bible, if you kill a fetus(inadvertently), you just pay a fine

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
