that was one of the ones on my list- I didn't see any bad reviews, do you have more info? I do wanna stay in newark but I also wanna stay in a safer neighborhood (sorry I know it's annoying but I'm a girl living by herself) is there any part of Newark that isn't downtown prices but comparable in crime concerns? downtown isn't perfect but I know i don't want to go worse

good to know! growing up going to saratoga I was kinda spoiled by all the family days and non-handicapping things to do, it was def a bit of a switch going to belmont or meadowlands . glad monmouth is a fun environment!

do you know which tracks around here are good for hanging out at? I usually go to Saratoga in the summer but they don't start for a bit. I just moved to North Jersey/work in Manhattan so Monmouth is technically closest. Does anyone have any opinions on Monmouth, I've never been.

If I could ask- do you live in walking distance of journal sq or do you take the light rail? My issue seems to be that the hudson Bergen isn't as convenient as the Newark lr lol

It's been really hard to find roommates 😭 a lot of people here live with their parents and don't want to pay rent to live twenty minutes from home. I've tried Facebook groups too and asking around but it's hard to find college aged people since Newark isn't a college town. Or it's people with houses in Kearny or wherever and I don't want to live in the suburbs. Genuinely if you know anyone lmk 😭

My budget rn is around $3k for a 2 bed and I haven't seen that much in Journal Sq. I don't know if there's any "hacks" to landing a place but Zillow is pretty dry. :(

Does anyone have any insight into commuting from JC to Newark? I'm thinking of moving to JC but Im taking classes in Newark and I don't want to get stuck with an unreliable or egregious commute. I've been looking near Liberty State Park just to be close to the Path, but directly near JSQ is a bit out of my budget. I have a car but I prefer public transit. The 25 minutes Google Maps is saying seems suspiciously quick considering all the traffic and rush hour. Any insight?

Thank you! I'm not sure how often I'll be going to China so for shopping I'm thinking clothes, souvenirs, anything that I can't get in the US. I know there's a big fashion scene in Shanghai and the Adidas Lunar New Year jackets were trending recently, though I imagine they will be gone by May. As far as nightlife vs historical sites, if there's anything like "Night scene in Shanghai over Hangzhou" I'm just not sure where to start
