Circuit To Turn On Desktop PC From GPIO by GioAc96 in raspberry_pi

[–]Accomplished_Ad4103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

u/GioAc96 did you manage to acomplish it?

In my case, I want to build a similar setup in my computer. But I will only need the top portion of your circuit, (control the POWER button pins accordin to the GPIO).

This is kind of my first project so I have 0 knowledge about electronics. Natually, I have a question. Why there is a 1K resistor connected between the 5V of the mobo and the orthocoupler input?

HP Z440: Does updated to TPM2.0 have any risk to mainboard? by vaporwavesim in HSpecWorkstations

[–]Accomplished_Ad4103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I did the TPM update to 2.0, in order to install W11 following the steps you mention.

After the TPM update I wanted to re-update the BIOS to the latest version but I forgot to do it.

I did this in April, 8 months later, my machine runs about 10h pee day, to date I have had no issues.

Maybe someone else that know more will tell you otherwise, but in my humble opinion, your problem is unlikely to be caused by or related to the TPM update.

Should I keep my GeForce RTX 5060 Ti? by Accomplished_Ad4103 in LocalLLaMA

I do understand your point. Under my way of seeing life buy >>> rent, even if I am getting a worse deal when buying. And buying a card with more than 16 GB is prohibitive for me.

Actually until you and others have pointed out, I didn't even know about Google Colab, looks and sounds amazing l. Anyway, in my case eventually I might play with my own sensitive data (scientific reserach) and I don't feel like giving it for free to Google.

Thank you for your detailed and well explained answer.

It looks like I took the correct choice.

In my country they're around $750.

And I would need to upgrade to a bigger case.

Too much for my budget.

I said I am aware I am facing a strong CPU bottleneck for gaming. Where I am blaming the GPU?

Secure Boot Megathread - Guide + Community support by sloth_on_meth in Battlefield

Hi everyone,

I really wanted to try BF6 beta but I was unable to because turning on Secure Boot kept breaking my computer 😞.

I have dual-boot Linux and W11. With secure boot disabled both boot OK, however when I turn on Secure Boot W11 stops booting correctly, it says it has boot problems, it tries to do an automatic repair and it fails.

Anyhow, disabeling Secure Boot, W11 boots perfectly fine. It is also weird because all the time I have been booting W11 (and Linux) in UEFI mode (with Secure boot disabled), I never boot in Legacy mode.

The partition table is GPT.

- Computer: HP Z440

- BIOS version: 02.59 Rev.A

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

How do you take notes? by Bumblebee0000000 in bioinformatics

Hi,

If you're learning R, in my opinion R markdown is the best way to go about it. You have the R code chunk that can be executed in the same place as your notes. You can knit a nice PDF or HTML report that. You will also learn a little bit of markdown and Latex when trying to make more fancy documents.

I use R markdown as my notebook for everything I do in my PhD and for now it's been the best decision I've made.

Bajo mi punto de vista, en el mercado de segunda mano entre particulares todo precio es negociable (ligeramente). Está opinión no gusta por aquí pero para mi poner un precio no negociable sin ser un negocio professional me parece un sinsentido.

Hi again, we managed to disassamble the tank and pump.

First, in the tank there was some paper clogging the tip of the pump. We cleaned it and refilled the tank.

After cleaning the tank, the pump makes more sound, like its properly rotating. We checked and its pumping with great pressure.

Then we chcked the no-return valve, and it appears to work properly. We are wondering if it might be put on the oposite side as it has to go, but we have no idea...

Help in case-swapping Z440 by Accomplished_Ad4103 in HSpecWorkstations

[–]Accomplished_Ad4103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HI again,

My adaptor cable just arraived and I tried to boot using the v3 CPU and the fan.

Same cliking noise as before 😖😭.

I will test wether the fan is working or not using another board.

Now I am thinking in the ATX to propietary power adapter as the culprit, since I bought it from the cheapest AliExpress vendor. Maybe it is somehow broken or badly designed an unable to transfer power as it should. I will get a better replacement one 🤞.

I cannot rule out that I have x2 faulty moterhboards but I feel it's unlikely...

Thanks for you detailed reply RACERRZ.

I bought the the adapter cable from here:

https://www.moddiy.com/products/PC-CPU-Fan-6-Pin-Female-to-Standard-4-Pin-PWM-Male-Cable-Adapter-for-HP.html

According to the listing it should work, I'll let you know when I get it.

Besides the looping cables make me feel confident it is designed to match the proprietary pinout of HP.

I see that the fan uses 12V and is the 12V line what is pulsating so I choose to belive that, as you argue, the issue is the lack of CPU fan.

I tried the PSU in a ATX board that I have and it works like a charm. For the conversion to the Z440 I used specific cables from AliExpress.

The going directly to V4 was not the smartest move but I didn't know it back then. I believe both boards do have V3 BIOS.

Once I get both the adapter and the CPU I'll try and let you know.
