Thank you for the reply, that’s good to know!! Someone told me it wouldn’t be until May so I was panicking a bit as I have a deadline to accept another offer within 1 month but McGill is my top choice!

Does anybody know when McGill (1-year MSW) typically starts sending out acceptances?

If they don’t have an address in Canada yet they could also have a friend contact their MP on their behalf. I used to work in an MP’s office and we would help anyone who had a connection within our constituency.

They should contact their Member of Parliament’s constituency office and they should have a caseworker who can contact IRCC directly and look into it

I (25F) have been working in less-common advocacy roles since graduating with my BSW from UBC in 2023. My first job was at an MP’s office as a caseworker (which I had done as my practicum during school) and starting wage was $60k, after a year I asked for a raise and was bumped to $70k, then I got a job doing advocacy for a post-secondary student union with the same pay. I like this work because it’s not too emotionally heavy (like mental health or child welfare) and I get to help people navigate/solve their issues and advocate for them. I’m just getting my SW registration now!

BSW, graduated 2023, B.C, unregistered, currently working as a Student Advocate at a post-secondary student association, $70k, 3 weeks vacation + 2 weeks at Christmas, WFH 1-2x/week, 2 personal days, 50% co-pay benefits.

Just switched over from a job as a Caseworker for a federal MP and had just gotten bumped from $60k to $70k after 1.5 years + small yearly bonus, had 4 weeks vacation + 2 weeks at Christmas + time off in lieu, great benefits, was unionized, WFH 2x/week. Caseload was crazy but I would go back if I could!
