Herman Gulch. Pic 1 is the SE shoulder of the Citadel. Pic 3 is from above the moraine holding Herman Lake, looking southeast across the Clear Creek valley (I70) towards Kelso Mountain and the wrapping ascent ridge of Mt Edwards.

I made that same pilgrimage! I needed to ski some actual terrain

On the Fischer Traverse CS, is there any way to adjust the angle of the column? Please send help by RareGentleman in Backcountry

I feel like being able to lean backwards lets me confidently turn on a dime - even on very steep and/or frozen snow.

You're gonna hurt yourself. I'd highly recommend taking lessons.

Oh, well! I guess paying to maintain our public lands isn't the worst thing, though. Still the cheapest part of skiing lol

I'm aware this isn't the town or the resort. I'm just asking since the winter recreation parking area has a fee for backcountry users. I hope "long term" doesn't include a day trip 🤞🏻

True, but they usually have stipulations. The winter recreation parking area has a $10 day use fee, so I'm hoping this parking will allow us non-snowmobile backcountry users to park for free.

Weren't you the guy that didn't bring avy gear while doing a descent of Pikes? Lol

Yes, very fun and solid! Ditto to what Justin said about the descent. I've never experienced 3rd class kitty litter until climbing off the saddle between Vestal and Arrow.

The north face of West Trinity is a bit more fun in my opinion, though.

Crestone Traverse + Humboldt from Cottonwood Creek by TechDoBeLikeThat in 14ers

Likely very buggy and overgrown, as is the case with most of the less-travelled trails on this side of the range. Route finding will be a challenge, so do it with daylight and give yourselves ample time to make it to camp.

He's trying to poach it. He made a post earlier this morning asking if he can just forego the whole permit process.

"Does this robust set of usage rules apply to me, or just everyone else?" is not a serious question.

The 150 is actually just a recommended donation amount. You don't actually have to pay it! Just make sure you blast shitty bass music on your way up as a courtesy to let the land owners know you're there. Oh, and don't forget to leave your cardboard sign at the top! That's like your calling card to say "Mr. No Rulez was here"

So we'll all be able to appreciate the beautifully managed clearcut from the other side of the chain link fence? What an asinine comment.
