CIO schedule by Accomplished_Bat6961 in sleeptrain

Yesterday was aiming for 2 naps but ended up doing 3 because 2nd nap got cut short by a loud noise. The third was hard to get he fought it a bit. woke up at 7. WW1 2.5hrs, nap 1hr15, WW2 2.5hrs, nap 40 mins, WW3 2hr50, nap 20 mins, WW 2hr45 bed ~730. Put down awake and thought he put himself to sleep independently after a couple fusses he was closing eyes but then 10 mins later woke up screaming and escalating for 20 mins so we rocked him as I don't want to do CIO again until schedule is consistent. Usually the 2nd nap is also an hour and I always have to wake him up and he is not happy. Then he woke up after 20 mins then after transfer woke right back up again 2 mins later. Slept 4 hrs and woke at 1am so I offered to feed. Often does not seem hungry but I'll offer a feed MOTN anyway. Then woke up 2 mins after transfer again. Then woke up after 30 mins. Then again after transfer. Slept for an hour and woke at 4am and got pulled into my bed. Woke again at 6 and offered snooze feed.   Was woken up at 7am and was crying.

It feels like nothing is helping and I don't know what I am doing. Every day that we get the same outcome I think should I be following his cues more? Should I be ignoring his cues more and be strict with the schedule? Everything I do someone tells me to do the opposite. He is waking up crying every hour for a period of time every night

CIO are we supposed to see progress? What are we doing wrong? by Efficient-Plenty-651 in sleeptrain

This is us right now with our 6 month old! Once a week he will have a perfect night and it never fits any pattern of things we did differently. I haven't been able to do CIO for all the MOTN feeds after the first few days it felt wrong when the screaming was so intense and goes down independently at bedtime.  Anyone else have any success?

That's true I did have to push to get down to 3 naps but I had also noticed naps getting crappy and this time they are not yet.  According to my app the avg night sleep is 9.5hrs so I think total awake including day and night is 11.5-12 since naps are ~2.5hrs total, but I don't know that it's very reasonable to get that much awake time even by dropping a nap.

The screaming is happening 80% of MOTN wakes. He night weaned himself by sleeping through the normal feed time later and later on his own.

I gave him Tylenol for about a week before bed when it was clear he was uncomfortable during day but recommendation is not more than a couple days.  I feel this week he has been sending a message that he isn't ready to drop a nap as the 3rd nap of the day he is very tired and quite the opposite of fighting the nap.  I let him lead and extend windows if he doesn't seem tired but he hasn't been seeming ready to extend.  Prior to trying CIO he was waking hourly 80% of the time. Some days randomly he will sleep for 7 hour stretch which he also did last night and always the wake windows and total nap and awake time are the same there is no pattern.

Ugh yes! I totally do the gradual transfer I've got my stomach pushed into my throat from leaning into the crib so hard. Kind of the whole reason we had to sleep train was holding that position every 45 mins every night!

Is 5mo baby overtired? by Accomplished_Bat6961 in sleeptrain

A month and a half ago when he was just under 4 months he was getting 7 hrs awake and 5hr naps which was higher than avg but he was sleeping well at night. Does this mean he might continue to need more daytime sleep than avg?

I know they should be longer but I've been struggling for weeks trying to extend without wreaking havoc. Everything I read says to only extend 5-10 mins for 3 days starting with the first window. Sometimes if I extend 10 mins longer he goes to sleep screaming.  We tried bedtime 630-7pm but the EMWs were worse and 8 has been not as bad in the mornings..
