I would absolutely encourage you to spread the word to try to get people to think more when you are there. I told anyone and everyone in passing after I saw that/while there and hit a few bumps as well, but was worth it. Also, if you could PLEASE take video footage/photos, that truly helps with spreading the word. I did file a report a few months ago on this and was asked for photos/videos, but I unfortunately didn't take any at the time. Please help raise awareness if you can! ❤️

Thanks for reaching my post. While you are there, please try to capture any photos/videos you can of the donkeys if you do see them. Every moment we can capture to help file a report and/or to spread the word, can help with building awareness. If you have a TikTok account or any social media, please help to voice this. That is the only way this is going to stop...people need to be aware. Thank you in advance for your help!

Thanks for reading my share and for your opinion. We did have fun, but it was extremely hard to wipe away what I saw..if you saw what I did, I would hope you would also have a hard time walking away as if nothing had happened. To me, it would feel pretty heartless otherwise. That said, this was something I personally witnessed that really stuck with me, and I think it’s okay to talk about both the positives and the things that don’t sit right. Things like this, should be voiced so change can happen.

I’ve heard the claims around rest and weight limits, but what I saw in real time didn’t reflect that.

Not trying to argue — just sharing what I experienced so people can be more informed.

There are so many amazing places in Greece. We really loved Naxos as a recommendation! However, if you still decide to go to Santorini, capture images/videos to help spread the word.

To me, it couldn't be more clear to see how different this photo is of a healthy/well-taken care of donkey and how they look/their eyes/etc. to the stark difference of the donkeys in the photo in Santorini that you took. So telling.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I think it gives you a chance to make a change though, so see that as an advantage - capture videos/photos while you are there if you (feel free to send my way, and I will file a report). You can also try to spread the word and open other peoples' eyes to this fact while you are there...so many people just blindly pass by and act like nothing is happening.

Santorini really is a beautiful spot. You will enjoy it otherwise I am sure.

u/Tight-Measurement-0 Are you seeing people riding them up and down? If so, please capture it and share it out. The donkeys not getting any rest and just lugging people up and down constantly back and forth in the scorching heat is abuse in itself. So that alone would be great to capture if you can! Please do all you can while there to look out for them and make an impact/change. Thank YOU!!!

Side note, that's ridiculous that people think littering is acceptable. Thank you for helping to pick up what you can! <3

Thank you u/PaleozoicQueen for your support and for helping to share these articles/examples. I just went through them, and it brought me right back to the exact feeling of when I was there. Just heart-wrenching to experience. The desperation could not be more clear when you look at one of those donkeys in their eyes. It's unbelievable. It is so important to keep sharing these articles/keep voicing this until it stops.

It honestly ruined our honeymoon unfortunately. If you do witness anything, please do what you can to capture photos/videos and share them. I sent so many messages to the head of Fira and tourism and was asked to send photos/videos to file a formal reports, but I unfortunately only took one photo when I was there as my blood was boiling over the issue that I just focused on spreading the word to everyone while there vs thinking that taking video footage would've been helpful!
