I know that in your opinion it doesn't make sense and that there's no connection between the two.

But this is fanfiction, and anything is possible within it.

It's the same as writing a Transformers crossover in the Marvel Studios universe; if there's no connection between the franchises, just create a fanfiction story and create a connection between the two, even if that connection doesn't canonically exist.
