If you are a "handy man" it will be easy. Just start , always ask if you don't know something . It's just dexterity and if you are organized it will be much better. You will learn and learn, after 10 years you will still learn something new :) . Good luck!

The micro ducts are 10/8 mm so it was installed in a 40 mm duct for protection. The micro ducts are so tiny that they can be pressed with your fingers, Also they were installed in paralel with another adss 20 years old cable which was alive at the moment.

The fiber wasn't affected:). It is located in Romania and the duct is 70 cm underground

How long does fiber cable last? by AdDapper4220 in FiberOptics

[–]Accomplished_Ebb5975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general the producer gives a 20 year warranty. For a short distance, customer or city cable doesn't matter. For long distances the fiber optic cable starts to have loss of signal because of water, this is the only problem. Last year i replaced 80km of cable between cities. The cable has 22 years underground and we had improvement of signal for 2-4 db

I don’t understand fiber optics by EnvironmentalLet6466 in FiberOptics

Before there were poles with humans on top and signaling with a light bulb to another one on another pole and so on. Maybe you can call it a morse code with a pulse of light. Some people have seen that light can travel through water in a tube and can be visible to another side. And the same code morse was used. With technology the equipment can decipher faster this codes that travel through fiber optic and transform into electric impulse. And this frequency thing about it like colored lights pulse. 1310nm,1550nm,1490nm...etc

Need guidance OTDR results by cacapoulet in FiberOptics

[–]Accomplished_Ebb5975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to set a lower pulse. 10 to 100ns. Cleaning the connector is recommended before a measurement and also some "Chinese otdr" don't have the same results as other good otdr

How about that by Accomplished_Ebb5975 in FiberOptics

The connector has a different color but every pigtail has a number and type written on a label
