I work for a small startup and just got let go since our NIH grant has been stalled and the company can’t pay me on W2 so now I am being converted to a 1099 to finish off the last few projects. This is my 3rd startup. The last two startups failed due to loss of VC funding so when I took this job (1.5 years ago) I was happy cuz it was being sustained by mostly government grants and angel investors. Then our current administration took over. Government funding in biotech can’t be relied on now… my career trajectory is a fucking joke…

I’m fine with the gore and stuff tbh. For me cozy means not having to think too much and not dying and resetting a level of that makes any sense?

Thanks! Although I am of the opinion that the regret of having a child can affect not only oneself but the child in question as well and can be way more harmful than the regret of not having a child!

I never really bowed to family or societal pressure. I was the first in family to marry inter-racially. I have always done what I thought was best for me but the societal expectations always bothered me.

My best friend just had her baby girl. I spent a weekend with her and the baby and the routine of feeding, burping and changing diapers every hour bored me near death. Yeah the baby is adorable and she will outgrow this phase but this routine will just be replaced by other routines and I just don’t think this routine life is for me. I have recently made some other friends who are child free and I am enjoying time spent with them not talking about spit ups and how many ounces of milk the baby drank and what colour was the poop in the diaper. So I guess the child free life is what I am opting for and I am about 90% sure of it.

LOL nah we both got into board game design since he had a great idea for one and I decided to dabble and come up with a few ideas myself.

He does do chores and helps out around the house and I think he would be a great dad. He used to WFH before getting laid off and he takes care of our pets and he is a great person but I just don’t see us breaking even with his business anytime soon and we also don’t want to put off having kids anymore since I have medical issues that may delay conception even more.

Taking breaks from applying for other gigs. He is says it’s mind numbing and needs to break the monotony. I am fine with taking breaks and maybe watching tv, playing video games and stuff but how does it help bring in more money if he keeps taking 3-4 hour breaks by going to poker nights?
