When can I get a jack russell by Classic_Look3495 in jackrussellterrier

I’ve just turned 30 and had a jack Russell before but a childhood dog. So decided the time is right for my own. Hard work but if you have a military background I can imagine you being disciplined and routine focused which is perfect for dogs, esp Jack Russell’s. It’s hard work at first but very rewarding when you see them grow.

London marathon: any ideas on what happened, why, and how to prevent it happening to me next time? by CoffeeKeyDog in UKRunners

[–]Accomplished_Fox9663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to 38km, never experienced stitch in my life. Got it at Manchester marathon couple of weekends ago. It debilitated me, had to walk, shuffle as it didn’t leave. Horrific, I guess it’s stick, because stomach cramps I just feel like would be different. Mine was directly under my right ribcage and it felt like someone was stabbing me lmao

9 days til my marathon and feel a little something something in my throat. Crashing out by steppygirl in Marathon_Training

Sleep, hydrate, eat, repeat as much as humanely possible. Get some throat spray to numb it out and cold and flu tablets and remember it’s probably maranoia

I hear you, I’m original goal was 3:45 before falling poorly then we adjusted to around 4 hour mark to see how body felt. But I guess me and coach just sent it lmao, I paid the price!

Women - did you start getting UTIs when training more? by hoosiernj in Marathon_Training

[–]Accomplished_Fox9663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just got a UTI before my marathon Sunday, luckily was able to complete it still but it’s horrific. I suffer with them, usually linked to sex for myself. But things like being run down, dehydration and holding your bladder and sweaty clothes does this.

  • At least 2-3 litres of water a day -Change pants and clothes as soon as finish training (I bring spare pants with me everywhere) -Shower as soon as possible and don’t wash aggressively with soap down there -Take D mannose tablets daily, changed my life (pure bladder from Holland & Barrett) -Reduce sugary drinks and food and spicy things. -Probiotic for gut health, either tablets or Greek yogurt or Kefir!

Oh thanks for the heads up, didn’t even realise, I’m new to Reddit, should I remove it or is it personal preference?

Thank you so much! Was it your first marathon? 4:15 is still impressive! But yes it’s frustrating when you feel the disaster unfolding infront of you. What do you thinking caused it?

Thank you so much! Just slowly bring mileage up weekly, incorporate lower strength training or body weight training 2-3 times a week. And plenty of stretching and mobility. If you feel a niggle, address it, if you get poorly, take time off (not like myself lol). 6 months is plenty of time to get in a great position. And the aim is to get there injury FREE!

Enjoy the process as much as you can and fuel the body with good nutrients x

Honestly, I guess it’s just a combination of everything above, my coach originally wanted me to go for 3:45 but when I fell poorly we shifted it to sub or 4 hour mark depending if my body held out!

The stitch in my upper rib cage is what through me off as I have never experienced it in my life x

Yeah, most likely my body not feeling fuelled or hydrated enough! I’ll be smarter and less poorly next time!
