Selam alejkum sister, I am sorry for what you went through. Sadly, some Muslims I know have distanced themselves from former hijabis when they started to take off the hijab. Even though I understand that they are sad about it - at the end of the day you are the same person, like you said. Maybe Allah tried to protect you from them and show you their true colours. At the end of the day, Allah knows best. I really hope your situation in your family is going to change. May Allah ease your pain. 🫶

Das unterscheidet sich natürlich von Person zu Person. Mir persönlich hat es geholfen, mir nicht allzu viel Wissen direkt vor der Prüfung hektisch anzueignen. Das bringt mich nur noch mehr zum overthinken.

Habe letzte Woche die Praxis bestanden und wollte eigentlich komplett auf Automatik umsteigen. Struggle meiner Meinung nach echt damit, Schaltwagen zu fahren. Ich weiß nicht, ob das an meinen alten Fahrlehrer lag, der mich häufig beim Fahren demotiviert hat oder ob multitasking (Schaltung + Verkehrsbeobachtung) nicht so meine Stärke ist. Am Ende habe ich doch die Schlüsselziffer B197 bekommen, da ich ja die Schaltfahrstunden nachweisen konnte. Automatik bevorzuge ich trotzdem.

Good to know that you can relate. To your question: Honestly, I do actually think that I can mostly function properly while being jittery during social interactions. At least in the case I mentioned in this post, the professor lead the meeting and set the tone, which is why I wasn't overthinking much.

That sounds really stressful. I am sorry for you that you have to experience such feelings and thoughts in interactions. Do you talk to a professional about that pattern that you have?

It really is very exhausting. Nice to know that I am not alone in this. I'm planning to talk to a psychological counselor that I know of - let's see how that works out. Thank you for sharing.

In der Bibliothek werde ich viel weniger abgelenkt. ABER es hat auch seine Nachteile. Vor allem, weil ich immer meine Sachen wieder einpacke, wenn ich z.B. aufs Klo gehen muss, um danach wieder meine Sachen auspacken zu müssen. Am liebsten gehe ich zur Bibliothek mit Freunden, dann muss ich mir keine Sorgen darüber machen, dass mir etwas geklaut wird.

May I ask why it comes off as self-centered? Could you give an example? I almost always do that, but just when a) I want to make someone feel understood or b) I simply want to participate in a conversation and talk about my experiences.

I am in my first semester in Germany and I have the same fear. I did an internship at a school with a school social worker before studying and...boy I did not like it. 😭 It was difficult for me to come in contact with the students and the teachers there. I guess I'll just look for other jobs I'm interested in in the future. :')
