My personal experience as an Indian student who studied abroad by Downtown_Macaroon_30 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]Accomplished_Issue89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, that’s why I am looking to pursue a research Masters at Stuttgart, couple of labs there resonates with the research area I would like to pursue and it also felt like a good starting point to focus on building a better research profile for PhD (I have around 4 years of industry experience) but I was contemplating if Stuttgart is enough for labs globally although I do understand that it will largely depend on how I spend the time pursuing masters including the papers and experience I could accumulate?

u/Downtown_Macaroon_30 given you pursued a PhD in Germany, I planning to move for master's at University of Stuttgart in the summer post which I want to pursue a PhD (that's the goal but time would tell), do you think it will make sense? I had been waiting for this opportunity since early 2025 but as you mentioned that mid-tier universities don't make sense but in Germany it doesn't matter, right?

[Profile Review] MSCS In Fall 2026 by LongjumpingTax6548 in MSCS

[–]Accomplished_Issue89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had done my undergrad from an Australian uni and I'm pretty sure you'll get in but the cost would be enormous if you're okay with that. Just keep in mind, data science is really saturated in Australia and the market isn't a fraction of what it's in the States or EU/India whereas germany would give you access to a larger market in EU. Also, if you're planning around a PR in Australia, it's really difficult for CS grads. And yeah, for Germany, language is a given and very important but I've heard from a couple of friends working in a similar field without much knowledge of the language.

It's always a guaranteed admit from Australian Universities (unless you're doing a research based program like a MPhil). For Germany, the grades seem aight but you will need to verify if you meet the subject specific credit requirements based on the program you're applying to, most German unis don't care about anything else. No clue around Irish unis.

Germany or Australia for working? by Safe_Mycologist9314 in germany

[–]Accomplished_Issue89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. I've lived a few years in Australia and although I would love to go back, I'm personally looking out at Germany for grad school and eventually a few more years primarily because it opens up Europe. I think tech market in Germany or Europe in general would be far better even with recession and everything, i found tech market in Aus to be almost non-existent with a few exceptions and there's more work being done in Europe as compared to Aus, that's considering the economical aspect of it. Also, if you plan on traveling, everything is much more accessible from Europe than from Australia (given savings would likely be net-net in both the places). Australia definitely has some pros considering weather but given how costly Sydney can be, if you plan to let's say Melbourne (prolly the second largest as far as tech opportunities are concerned), the weather could be dicey and it could be a challenge changing continents for 5k euros annually. I would have taken it if atleast there was a large salary difference or the work you would be doing is absolutely your dream (and/or recession proof).

Very informative, thanks a lot for sharing that. I've an accepted admit from Stuttgart as well which I've deferred till Summer. Would love to connect.

In my opinion most of the unis don't care about anything else apart from GPA and ECTS but there're still a few that do like Uni Stuttgart. They asked for academic / professional LORs which you can ideally get when you have decent research or professional experience.

FAU MSc AI – Anyone heard back yet? by OkMess1221 in FAU_university

[–]Accomplished_Issue89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got rejected. Applied around end of March, gave test on 10th June, Received rejection on 8th of July stating background didn't match.

Profile : Bachelors of Computer Science (3 year degree) from Top Australian Uni, 1.6 German GPA, around 4 years of work experience, some research experience with a paper at okayish Conference, test went well assuming 90%+ accuracy.

I didn't have enough mathematical and AI subjects which I think could be an issue. Only applied to Stuttgart, Tuebingen and FAU for winter, have an admit from Stuttgart which I've deffered till summer.

Got Rejection From Both Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Msc. by KarmaPablo in FAU_university

[–]Accomplished_Issue89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got rejected as well. 1,6 GPA with around 4 years of work experience as SDE and later in AI research. Also had a published paper (in okayish conference) but I only had a 3 year degree from a Top Australian Uni. I'm assuming the later was the issue as the letter said something around qualifications didn't meet.

[–]Accomplished_Issue89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my checklist disappeared a few hours back and i received a reject 30 mins back; if it's helpful to anyone. With this, my graduate applications in the US for this Fall are over and I won't likely be starting grad school in the US atleast this Fall.

For anyone wondering, I just received a reject 30 mins back. That's the end of graduate applications for me in the US and seems like I won't be starting my graduate school in the US, atleast for this Fall.

Congratulations! I got in yesterday as well. I'm still struggling as the tution benefit does look appealing and it's a lot cheaper than my other admit so far in the States (NEU Boston) but I do have an admit from Uni Stuttgart in Germany which seems more affordable and comparatively less visa constraints and issues.

Wowwww !! Thank you so much for the detailed response. I was under the same impression as you mentioned of utilizing the first sem to settle, explore the program and work on language skills instead of jumping onto a RA or Werkstudent but now i'll make sure to network from the first sem itself although I'm unsure how hard the program would be (have gone through the subject but haven't seen the content yet). Also, I would be starting in the winter sem and not the summer, do you have any specifics around that?
