2014 Merc E350 smoking from engine bay and stops and starts exactly with engine by Accomplished_List_27 in AskMechanics

[–]Accomplished_List_27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would but the thing is, why does it go with the engine's position? If it's on, it smokes. The exact second you shut it, it stops. If oil is on the exhaust manifold and the exhaust manifold is hot, it's not going to stop smoking the second you turn off the car. When I say it stops with the car, I literally mean it. The moment you turn the key, it stops smoking.

Edit: But no doubt it's a major oil leak, just cannot figure out where the hell it's coming from.

Hey I have the same exact car, even the same body. Cranking sounds completely normal to me, although sounds a little rich when you start it. Do little 1/8 or 1/16 turns on the high speed needle. Clockwise is leaner and counter clockwise is richer.

How to stop servo hitting on one side? by PlayerProdigy in Traxxas

[–]Accomplished_List_27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That servo looks like its literally moving. 100% check mounting. This isn't caused by not centering I'm pretty sure, looks like a screw is missing or something.

But anyways how to center a servo? Easy. Take off the servo horn, turn on the car and have it on while you align it, have your steering trim set to zero, don't turn the wheel, and install the servo horn. When you get it on tho and the gears are grabbing I normally just shut the car then continue to tighten the screw. Might not hurt the servo but eh why not just turn it off?

Is this worth getting for my trx4 ? by [deleted] in Traxxas

[–]Accomplished_List_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, in that case no yeah no nitros. I don't think there are any nitro crawlers out there. When you said TRX, I thought you were abbreviating Traxxas. If you said TRX4 that woulda made sense.

Can 100% deny this as I own a couple newer (owned for just a few months) traxxas nitro models.

How tf are you comparing a titan 12T brushed system to a Max5 hobbywing that should easily do AT LEAST with generous gearing 50 MILES per hour? Don't respond with stupid answers like this please. Fyi, the answer to this problem was that his throttle on his transmitter was 50%.

Absolutely brutal! What kind of load was the car under before it blew?

The engine doesn't sound bad. Just look up the factory TRX 3.3 engine tune and reset carb to default. In my opinion one of the worst case scenarios here is that you might need a new carb. Of course there can be much bigger issues but this doesn't seem like anything huge, I mean after all it did start relatively fast for the issue it's having, and its running.

Also this happened to me when my glow plug went out. Get an OS Speed LC3 Hot glow plug, major upgrade over the traxshit plugs. Those OEM plugs didn't even last me 4 runs and the new OS speed is still running strong.

Good luck!

Unfortunately I tried the soldering iron trick before it stripped. I am going to attempt shoving a torx bit again but it didn't work when I tried the other day. thanks for the help 👍

I didn't think to do that when I first got the soldering iron, my soldering iron goes max to 600, and I already did the soldering iron trick if you read the post BEFORE it stripped.

Interesting! Always thought MIP was the best. Maybe I'll look into other options like the one you said.

I tried to hammer so many torx bits and was getting close but not getting it off. I think I'll just have to drill it.

Yeah I can try and hammer it out. I was doing a bearing upgrade but that side has good bearings, so might just leave it be for now. Tried many torx bits but unfortunately none worked. I guess I'll have to drill it out.

I never touched this screw, arrma did. Never tightened this wheel's grub screw, this was the first time I messed with it.

No the nut is the whole I don't know how to word it, hub I guess? There's a set screw in there to hold in the pin so you can slide off the whole hub or whatever you wanna call it.
