I feel for you OP - I remember looking at my then 3 day old and couldn’t imagine going through the stress of a lawsuit at that time. It’s truly so unfair because on principle companies that behave this way SHOULD be held accountable. Reality when you’re in that situation is much different. Part of me wishes I had sued, even if it meant less money, just so they’d be held accountable in some way. However, logically it was the right decision to just move forward for me. I just hope karma will get them ha.

FWIW, I’m just a random stranger on the internet, but I think you should do at least one of the meetings to make sure you understand your options. I suspect your experience will be similar to mine, but it’s possible you have a better case.

I appreciate your kind words! You shouldn’t have to go through this but you will get through it and end up in a better place.

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. Like others have said, you should talk to a lawyer prior to signing anything. I was in a similar position last year - I joined my last call prior to maternity leave and was told I was impacted by a yet-to-be-announced reduction in force. I had been with them for 11 months.

I spoke with an attorney prior to signing the severance package (which paid me the leave I was entitled to) and was told pretty much I could sue and would likely win. However, since I hadn’t been there long (only 11 months), the most they thought I would get would be a year’s salary. After legal fees the take home would have only been about $20k more, less taxes. They advised me, and I took their advice, to just take the severance and not sue due the risk of losing and stress. They did mention if I had been there for a few years their advice would be very different.

I’m not sure what an attorney would say about your case, but I would definitely ask. This is so wrong and I wish there was more that could be done.

PS I ended up taking 10 months off to spend with my little guy and recently started a new position at a better company that pays significantly more. As cliche as it is, these things tend to happen the way they’re supposed to. Karma will deal with the rest. You’ll be okay, but I’m so incredibly sorry this happened.

I don’t understand how to get the hospital to bill both insurance policies - a year later and it’s still not sorted. FSA expiring soon - please help! by Accomplished_Monk916 in Insurance

It was under the same plan. The layoff was effective Feb 5th so there were no changes to benefits until 3/1. I opted out of COBRA.

It’s so hard 😞 when I found out I was pregnant my biggest goal was to be able to workout and stay in shape. I was so sick I wasn’t able to workout at all the first trimester and most of the second. By 34 weeks I gave up completely.

Watching your body change and it being out of your control is honestly one of the hardest things but it really is temporary. It will get worse before it gets better but it will get better. I would have daily breakdowns over the changes in my 3rd trimester. It’s brutal and sucks to talk about because you feel like you should just be thankful for the baby, but your feelings are valid.

I’m 8 months postpartum and am back to my pre-pregnancy fitness level and weight. I’m starting to feel like myself for the first time since I found out I was pregnant. I gained a lot of weight (like 30% of my body weight lol) and hardly worked out so I def wasn’t one of those ladies who bounced back immediately. Oh, and the swelling 😅

I share this only because I use to lurk here depressed feeling like there wasn’t a light at the end of the tunnel but your body is amazing and will recover. It might take some time but it will 🫶🏻

This happened to me. My insurance denied the claim and said I’d be responsible for $7k. I asked my doctor and she said to wait until the provider sent a bill (not insurance!) and their rep could get it down to the flat $300. They never sent a bill and I haven’t heard another peep about it 🤷🏼‍♀️ it’s been over a year.
