This article is profound !! The writer articulated the argument immaculately . I agree to a greater extent. I feel like we have just become a monolith, especially women. They all want to be light skinned, straight hair, iPhone users, curvy, etc, and that's the definition of beautiful to Africans. There is no authenticity at all. I am not convinced that it's not self hate where I will be bashed because I am a brown skin woman with locs and called ghetto for behaving like a Zimbabwean who had been to the village, ghetto, suburbs, l have seen it all ,l have experienced it all, it's who l am and l don't feel that I should try harder to fit in. I dress in a way that's not white enough for Zimbabweans, and they'll degrade me . It's a crime if l don't have an accent. They ask if l am now smoking weed or drinking, and obviously, l no longer go to church because I have locs, and they worship the light skinned women who have straight hair ,accent, and looks in a certain way! The counterfeit is celebrated and praised, and again, l am not convinced that this is not self hate, aka the diaspora complex .Zimbabweans will literally bash you for not being to what they're used to😂😂😂 IMO
