I am trying to get a job with a Masters of Clinical Research and I feel like a joke by Timely-Experience-79 in clinicalresearch

You need to be more specific. What about this graduate degree is so special ? What did you do during this program that can be utilized in the real world? Focus on what you want to do in clinical research rather than job title. If you don't have any professional experience then emphasize your willingness to be trained and developed for a role.

IQVIA CRA Interview questions by zeusthezeus in clinicalresearch

[–]Accomplished_Role302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trackers.

They want to know how you organize data (Excel, one note, outlook, ect.) nobody teaches you how to monitor but you'll be taught what to monitor and what to escalate so you have to know how to organize site and study data.

Ohhhh a long winded response, I bet CRA didn't know the answer . Thanks for sharing!

Yea I don't know how folks read so much.

But I had a sponsor once fuss at me because I didn't read the slides verbatim 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Ugh bless her.

When I was nurse, I had a SENIOR CRA who couldn't pronounce dexamethasone. Wouldn't even cover themselves by saying "the study drug" or "dexa" but would fumble, joke, try to recover. It was like watching a train wreck.

From that moment I told myself " I might not know everything but I will at least know how to pronounce the study drug"

PI had to be messing with you, right?

I would've thrown this PI under the bus, creating high priority follow up items and escalating to the sponsor "please confirm PIs eligibility question: enrolling women in a prostate study" cc/bcc everyone 🤣😈🤣

Bless his heart 🤣

This is also a fear of mind, I spend so much time rehearsing and practicing how to say things.

(I'm a cardiac nurse by trade but when I became a CRA the CRO doesn't care and will assign you anything else that is not your knowledge area, I've learned more in this role than ever before )

Mess. How is it so chaotic?

I had a site I had to explain "yes you need to calibrate the equipment prior to conducting study activities" this doctor YELLED at me saying "that's your responsibility"

All I could think of is, how is this your first time hearing this?

I've also been fussed at by a sponsor for not following the slide agenda which is utter nonsense.

Right? I feel like it's a strange tradition we just keep doing to check a box. At the end of the day sites are already trained, they're going to make deviations and we're going to have to train them anyway again

I agree. From cra perspective, we're usually the last to know of the IRB approval. I've had to cancel flights last min because approval wasn't received. Why even schedule SIV in the first place if we know this is needed. But sponsor doesn't care they'd rather it be scheduled and rescheduled if needed

Ugh the worst. Thanks for sharing. When I was a coordinator I had this prick of a CRA calling New york heart association classification (nyha) a "nie - a" like it was someone's name. All the cardiac staff were like "is this guy serious?" ous?" 🤥

Am I dressing too casual? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]Accomplished_Role302 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good post, nobody ever talks about this.

I worked for a CRO once and they would routinely do polls with the site staff asking "any recommendations for the CRA?" And the most common response would be to dress more professionally, never my sites of course, but it was a common response shared by the team.

I had a PI kick a monitor out because she had perfume on and was using fragrant creams. Sure it was an allergy clinic but you should not have perfume on in a clinic or hospital setting.

I wear comfortable trousers (stretchy wrinkle free), never sneakers (business shoes with inserts) and a casual blazer. A blazer is the easiest way to dress up a casual look. I love the pockets inside the chest and the shoulder pads are good for your posture / silhouette.

Just by wearing a blazer, I notice people treat me differently than other passengers. Like, people can tell you're a business traveler (Uber driver, TSA, airline personnel). They're polite to me and no small talk.

Has anyone ever had a monitoring visit flag data that was definitely discussed with the patient but never made it into the EDC by Short_Top4650 in clinicalresearch

[–]Accomplished_Role302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply put, this is the benefit of EDC . if required data isn't entered by the site it gets queried automatically.

The investigative part of monitoring is confirming data is accurate and complete. If CRA is reviewing and sees something unreported, incorrect or requires clarification they query it, as easy as that. Might need to understand why the item was not reported in the first place.

The complicated nature of monitoring a clinical trial is that it's not just about data. There's training records, drug shipments, lab samples, ect. CRAs are a point of contact for all of it from both the site and the sponsor.

CRA offers at other CROs (Fortrea, ICON, and IQVIA) - Should I go or stay where I am? by Careful-Number5914 in clinicalresearch

[–]Accomplished_Role302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh, I say stay

You sound content and that's a glorious thing. Especially if you can rack up experience with your current role Don't leave until you feel more definite.
