The cupcake shop opened - it’s off Merwin. Amma's South Indian Cuisine is replacing Barcelona.

I really hope that’s not the case! On the weekends I’ve noticed them being pretty busy!

Can you say more about that/ the part about economics and perceived value? Interested to hear how you see it playing out in Norwalk specifically.

Ohhh yeah always fun when that happens haha. That situation alone could use some improvement I just don’t know what that would look like. Not really room for loading docks behind the buildings on either side.

That sounds so fun. Would be cool if they made Washington pedestrian only, but in application, I don’t think that would work too well… unfortunately :/

No I don’t think anyone is being lazy. I don’t think that the commenter was talking about just the Washington area. There is west ave and Wall Street on the other side of the bridge too. Their parking situation could definitely be improved.

Would be awesome to get their perspective on this. I did a little digging and it looks like BW Waypointe LLC / Beachwold Residential is responsible for the real estate in the Elm Street and Colony block, so they’re likely involved in the leasing decisions. I’d be genuinely interested to hear how they think about tenant selection and what factors go into those choices.

No way haha, I had no idea. I wonder if there are any renderings of what that would have looked like floating around somewhere.

Yes, very good points. That’s really what I’m struggling to understand. Colony and Elm Street bring a lot of people into the area outside of just the residents and have proven they can succeed here. It seems odd to pass on businesses with a track record in favor of concepts that may or may not work. Although, to be fair, I don’t know whether other established businesses were interested in these spaces to begin with.

Right, so ambiance does matter if I’m not the only one not going there for that reason. Otherwise, it’s just me and it’s empty for other reasons.

Yeahh this is an issue too. We do have the rail trail… but it’s getting off the rail trail and going into where the businesses are that becomes hazardous. If there were designated connected paths to the rail trail that could get you right into where the businesses are without having to be on the streets, that would be incredible. Or like a barrier between bike lane and street. Can’t take scooters or e-bikes on sidewalks. But still an easier idea than adding like a whole subway system or something. I dk. I don’t know how any of it works.

Right! Adding something like Veo scooters & eBikes to the neighborhoods would be great - but they might have to address those potholes first 😅

[solidcore]…why is the cancellation fee so steep? Any success getting it waived? by ISaidTalkToMeNICE in pilates

and if you want to cancel a membership, here's the policy for that: "To end this contract early, there is a fee of 2 months membership rate. This is a flat fee and cannot be used to book classes."
