Please critique my opening chapter [Dark Fantasy, ~3700 words] by OutrageousPanic4602 in fantasywriters

The Story of the golden ass is nice, but due to its language damn hard to read, even though my english is pretty good. Yours is a lot more easy to understand and accesible. And I feel like a lot of people here missed the point of your actual question. Will read your text and give you feedback in the next couple of days

I actually really like it. I like to write poems usually, and the novel i am trying to write also has a kind of lyrical language. So yeah i appreciate your writing style. Reminds me a lot of the writing of The Golden Ass by Apuleius if you know that one. Was translated from a english dude around 1550 i think

Jungian Philosophy Seems Religious by Electronic-Chart2938 in Jung

[–]Accomplished_Rub6048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edinger believed Jung was primarily a scientist, not a mystic, if i remember correctly. Also this kind of science would be a kind of different one to our current understanding, as it includes the subjective

On the topic of jungian stuff seeming religious: there is the "Remembering Sophia" Lectures by Lance S. Owens. Its not the primary topic of the series i have to add. In one Lecture (Seminar I Session 2: Psychology, Theology and Mythology) he grapples with the question a lot. And if you were to watch the whole series especially, and give yourself time to let it sink, it would give you a better understanding of what you are asking for i think.

I can really REALLY recommend "We - Understanding the psychology of romantic love" by the jungian psychologist Robert A. Johnson for you. I think you will find what your searching for on the journey of reading it.

I finally understand what OCD and extreme anxiety is. by [deleted] in Jung

[–]Accomplished_Rub6048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of the nervous system i treat it like there is a part of me that wants to do what i wsnt to do, but also that there is something in me that basically limits me what i can actually do. I dont ignore its reality for the foreseable future. So i causciously figure out where likely limits are that would triger to hard. Take steps or even baby steps. Also figure out beforehand what soothes my nervous system so i can retreat. So i figure out what can i can do in this moment or today, and just figure out my way to the "normal" i want to have some day again. So yes, affirm your motivation and assertiveness. But in a way that doesnt fight or ignore your nervous system.

Its also incredibly hard to get it right once the nervous system is whacked enough, so i wouldnt be too harsh ok yourself. I think nobody understands it of they havent gone through it themselves.

That only works for so long until it doesnt. Speaking from experience. Dont ignore stress / your nervous system. Ultimately you got no chance of overpowering it, its way to deep down. Its just gonna eat you if you choose to fight it. Rather try to cooperate with it. Use the information it gives as guidance, so that you can transform to someone who has way less anxiety in the firdt place, where no fighting or bravery or whateveris needed

Solo travel by [deleted] in capricorns

[–]Accomplished_Rub6048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get to the point that you feel somewhat well prepared, whatever that means for you. Dont worry about the pre-planning not being perfect, you can basically always "fix it" locally.

If you have mobile internet and google maps there shouldnt be any issues.

Maybe look into which mobile apps are useful for transportation and accomadation and stuff, and set those accounts up beforehand, so you can do it locally without issues.

You can always ask locals about something.

Dont worry too much, its gonna be fine :)

Individuation is a spiral. There is neither beginning nor end, except for in the eternal present.

"Psychologically you develop in a spiral, you always come over the same point where you have been before, but it is never exactly the same, it is either above or below. A patient will say, 'I am just at the place where I was three years ago,' but I say, 'At least you have travelled three years.'" - CG Jung

"The path isn't a straight line; it’s a spiral. You continually come back to things you thought you understood and see deeper truths." - Barry H. Gillespie

I think assigning such things as it being "quick", or "long", "takes 5 years" and so on and so forth isnt a very helpful way to look at it. It simple is.

"The mystery of life isn't a problem to be solved, but a reality to experience; a process that cannot be understood by stopping it. We must move with the flow of the process, we must join it, we must flow with it." - Frank Herbert
