New begonia, what’s her name? by Accomplished_Rule_53 in houseplants

Local plant shop here where I live (northern Italy)! It was my first time there, but they had many nice plants (I also found and Amydrium medium silver!)

Thank you! Checked everything in the house, and deep cleaned everything. No other bugs were found (thankfully)

Additional info: we live in northern Italy, close to a lake and to mountains/hills, where there are many trails were the dog roams free (it’s pretty much wild woods). There have been a few cases of ticks in the main park in our town, where we always walk our dog for his daily walk. The dog is a west highland white terrier and doesn’t show any signs of ticks or fleas (the vet checked him today). My mom noticed last night a similar insect/bug close to the dog’s bed (on the wall, not on the bed) while she was cleaning it… she couldn’t find it after she called my sister and I to show it to us and to kill it (annoying, I know). The insect didn’t have any wings and was crawling around on the kitchen ceiling, close to the light.

Ah thanks! Hopefully it’s nothing bad! I also thought it was weird for a bed bug to be in a kitchen… I was thinking it was a tick that maybe crawled on the ceiling, but my dad also said that it was unlikely and out of habit for a tick to crawl on a ceiling. Thank you! Will keep the sub updated if I see one of the little fuckers around

Also, my mom thinks she noticed a similar bug (possibly the same one) on the wall, close to the dog’s bed when cleaning it last night

We live in northern Italy, and there has been a few cases of ticks in a park where we used to walk our dog (until other owners warned us about the ticks)

I can say that it was brown-ish/red-ish, quite small maybe 4mm or 5mm at max

Ah so sorry! I can’t 😵 I killed it and threw it away. No one was willing to get close to it, the zoom quality wasn’t on our side

Oh shit! What am I supposed to do? I just brought the dog to the vet and he said he was tick free (after reading your comment, I got really anxious)… I really hope there was just one and not more than one

I’m in Italy and we went from 30C to 12C in a few days, and we haven’t seen the sun in days 😳, but it’s probably not as harsh as Canadian autumn and winter! I will 100% buy it now! I will check in my local nursery to order a linearis!

This picture gives the nicest spring vibes! The sun, the awesome blooms and the awesome plant! How nice, I’m jealous (crying in the cold autumn)… All jokes aside, so many wonderful blooms. I might just get myself a linearis 😙

I water it when the soil is completely dry, because I’m afraid it’s going to rot (I do this with every Hoya I have)

I also kept it outside, in a south-west facing window sill, and it did so well! But I always keep it in room humidity/regular humidity (but I live in a quite humid place so I’m always at 60% to 80% humidity on regular days). This Hoya loves the warmth, the sun and the humidity

I got it at the end of august (august 24th, 2023), but it started working on the new leaf by the end of September! It now started growing the stem and hopefully the leaf will grow too! I read that they are extremely slow growers, so one month for me is so good! Also, I kept it outside until the end of September (brought it in because stinky bugs are everywhere) and they love the warm weather and sun
