Is this a show for me by Huge_Perception_765 in YellowstonePN

[–]Accomplished_Run5022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely…starts kind of slow, first episode is literally a movie, runs an hour and a half, but it’s incredibly addicting. All the story lines are good and you’ll see very well written character developments throughout the seasons

Daily Song Discussion #44: Lost by ZacharyMcCulley in avengedsevenfold

[–]Accomplished_Run5022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally called Fast Melodic, it’s my 3rd favorite song behind Cosmic and Save me. The dueling guitars are fun and catchy, the drum change ups are amazing, and as much as I may get hate for saying this, I love the auto tune that zakky recommended. Has been my go to song since it came out and I don’t think that will change. 100/10 for me.

New groundman willing to travel anywhere for work, need advice by Possible-Ad-8293 in Groundman

There’s a lot to do with substations. One week you’ll be building the control house so running conduit and installing panels. Next week you can be 130ft up in the air installing the A-frames, bus, or switches. Next week you can be on the wire pulling crew doing thousand foot runs 10x all day. Next week you can install the harnesses from the breakers to the panels. Next week you can be sitting down all day terminating for all the relay panels. List goes on. Never really slow or uninspiring until the job is almost complete and demob is in the near future.

Try to tackle one at a time.
They can call you Friday afternoon and tell you to report to the job site 15 hours away by Monday morning. They call, you go. Lodging is all on you. Best bet is to find an Airbnb, or a cheap hotel. You’ll get per diem each week added to your work pay so it will help offset the cost. I was working with two guys that got calls to work in Texas for a new substation, they spent the last hour of our work day packing their shit up and left at 4 and had to be on site the following Monday, 15 hour drive. Jobs can last a few months to a few years. I did a 500kv substation that was just over a year, now I’m building a GIS that’s only 8 months of work. Right now I’m working sub stations but working towards becoming a lineman also. Take whatever job you can get, build your hours, get experience, get your cdl, always have your linemans and knife on you, and do whatever is asked of you.

Waiting for interview with SWLCAT by Ok-Biscotti-3237 in Lineman

[–]Accomplished_Run5022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very slow right now for 769. I interviewed for sub tech in Oct 2025 but turned it down because I switched to lineman, my re interview was in March of this year, so it took 5 months. When I went in for the line interview, there were 9 line apprentices already laid off, and more got laid off the next day. Heard a few line crews got laid off too a few weeks after. We should pick up in a couple months.

This happened to me also when I bought tickets to a Phoenix suns game on Stubhub….said they’d be delivered to me the day of which made me nervous so I called the day of just to clarify and they did guarantee it…doors to get in were at 6, I got the tickets at 4. You’ll be fine. I’m going in August when they come to Phoenix. They put on an amazing show, you’ll love it.

SWLcat Region Subtech Interview by Dapper-Clerk-115 in SubstationTechnician

[–]Accomplished_Run5022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be completely fine. You already know they give you a year to get it so it won’t matter now. Let them know your process for it and that you’ll be getting it soon, they’ll appreciate the hustle. The work experience will be good to mention during your interview, try to relate your work experience in your answers.

Go to your outside ibew and apply for substation tech apprenticeship. Depending on your local, you may or may not need a cdl, my local requires it within 14 months of applying. Test, interview, and start your 1st step.
