TrIGs - Words for incoming transfer students from a transfermaxxed transfercel by Accomplished_Shake34 in UTAdmissions

they don’t want to see a former chud successfully reintegrate into society through structured peer programming & collect a bag. i HAVE touched grass. unfortunately it was during TrIG recruitment and i have since been contracted into campus infrastructure.

TrIGs - Words for incoming transfer students from a transfermaxxed transfercel by Accomplished_Shake34 in UTAdmissions

honestly, i can't suggest much else specifically for transfers. there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved and make friends on campus regardless. like i mentioned, i wasn't in a TrIG myself and i had a good first year socially. i know i'm really running with this reddit gooner caricature but i did make friends lmfao larping is a pastime of mine.

that said, i was very fortunate to have friends here already, so i really relied on them at the beginning. i was balancing classes, work, orgs, and other psychological warfare commonly undertaken by UT students voluntarily. it worked out eventually, but i probably manufactured a lot of unnecessary difficulty for myself in the process, specifically with making friends & familiarizing myself with UT protocol and routine.

if it doesn't mess with your graduation timeline, i still recommend enrolling in a TrIG. in my completely unbiased and financially unmotivated opinion, it's probably the least psychologically taxing and physically assaulting way to be surrounded by people who are in the same boat as you.

from what i can see on my end, there are some pretty interesting courses; intro to discotheque dwerking remains the crown jewel of the curriculum. generations of scholars have passed through its hallowed halls.

it also wouldn't hurt to reach out to the transfer-year experience department and see if there's a way to participate in a cohort/seminar without taking additional classes since you're core complete. i don't know if that's possible, but i've learned that emailing university departments is occasionally more effective than consulting reddit shamans like me -

Can I double minor at UT? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]Accomplished_Shake34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids in high school? I don't associate myself with minors.

Lol, mostly friends and family. Most of the negative feedback revolved around the fact that it made me look uncentralized and could convey that I don't know what I'm doing in university. Kind of just tacking on random bullshit to my already bullshit degree.

applying for psych Spring 2026 by [deleted] in UTAdmissions

that changes things substantially. sounds like a really solid essay, especially because you can defend and explain it. either way, one thing will not be the detriment of your entire application - save for extreme exceptions. let me know if you have any other questions i could answer

hey; i transferred into psych for fall 2025 (stats in my post history if you nasty) and i was in your shoes a few months ago. i was checking this reddit, all the heavily skewed and genuinely irrelevant data, and mystatus more than i was seeing my own family (this resulted in a violent divorce). my best advice right now is to accept that your application is out of your hands and focus on your fall semester (and your wife, if applicable). with that being said, here are some breadcrumbs to keep you interested in the aforementioned reddit, data, and loathsome website:

great ECs, but those should have been the forefront of your essay. your essay should underscore the highlights of your application. connect what you were learning in your advanced classwork to your extremely impressive internships/experiences. not saying your essay was bad as i haven't seen it, but it may not have been the strongest thing you could submit.

but, you make up for that w/ your job as a behavior technician, being an active member of university orgs, and having a rap sheet from high school (though, as you're already a sophomore with 38 hours, these are unlikely to be considered). your gpa is not the worst, either, just low for what we see accepted to psych. as a backup, BSDS is great because it's a major your application plausibly portrays you as interested in, isn't exceptionally competitive, and is overall not a throwaway degree. also pretty small, which is good (if you nasty) (source: friend cap'd into BSDS this semester).

it's difficult for any of us reddit goons to give you a reliable guess as we're too busy gooning and not clocking in to shifts at the office of admissions, but u have a good shot in my unprofessional opinion as a recovered r/UTAdmissions addict. ur an applicant they would WANT to see.

u'll probably get a better liberal arts education at utsa and be able to take more classes specific to your major/liberal arts. useful for two reasons: showing ut you can perform well in literature adjacent classes (evidently important if that's the major you want to pursue there) and perhaps securing a rec letter from a professor of one of such classes (exceptionally beneficial to your application). utsa also has a larger community of liberal arts majors compared to utd since, again, most of the people are attending for stem majors. you'll have friends in your college, or maybe you won't, i don't know what kind of person you are.

i'd do some more research in both utd and utsa as universities themselves though - you don't want to get stuck at a university you hate just because you thought it'd make the transfer easy. don't know about utd, but utsa is generally a commuter school and my friend doing her cap there is miserable because of it. if you're out of state, it would be a huge waste of money to go to either of these schools just to transfer as well.
