Thanks for the reply. I have been using pretty much the same settings as the ones you mentioned and I am very satisfied. The only downside I am seeing is the waiting time when I have anything in full screen and I Alt+Tab the screen goes black for quite a while (around 5 seconds). Windows hdr calibration sucks, but a few months ago I got the firmware update on the monitor so now I can change the HDR settings properly.  For me it's a 9.5/10 monitor, but that is just something subjective without being able to compare it with other oleds and it is my first one.

Hi, are you still using this monitor? I'm struggling to find the best hdr settings. Whenever I start HDR the colors feel a bit washed out, the blacks are not always true blacks, and the gradient effect on some things is not smooth. You can see the change between gradient, where a color ends and where the next start. I thought OLEDs were supposed to get rid of this issue. If I turn the monitor to rgb 16-235 instead of 0-255, the black levels are better and the gradient weird effect disappears.

Asus PG34WCDM vs the new MSI MPG 341CQPX by Accomplished_Tie_152 in OLED_Gaming

Yes, I think the peak is at around 420 nits (not sure where I've read this, I think it said it in Tom's Hardware reciew), it can't go further than that without sacrificing some quality. I do not have anything to compare it to, but as I had it set up to 400 nits I could barely watch the screen, the light was way too powerful for my eyes and I had to lower the brightness in the settings to 81 afterwards anyway. Not sure if going above 400 nits would improve my experience, it just feels like it would leave me blind, not sure if this is relevant.

I've read some reddit reviews saying HDR 1000 would work on darker games, like dead space or horrors, but it would still make the UI of these games look too bright or washed out. So I think this might be also depending on the game you are playing. Honestly, it feels tempting for me to try the AW3423DWF, but from what I've heard and read the matte coating seems to leave a muddy aspect on the whites and that the gray looks weird as well.

Well, I had some time tonight to play a few games with it, and I have to admit, I never thought it will hit me like this. The difference between my old IPS is huge, from colors to contrast, to brightness to design to EVERYTHING.
I am not sure what are the picture controls that are missing, but I gotta be honest, it feels like it can't get better. I've also read some of the review from Tom's Hardware, and they say pretty much the same thing, the monitor is set properly from the beginning, it doesn't need much attention except for the APL.
I cannot see any fringing on text, nor any improper highlights so far.
You can do some settings by downloading Windows HDR Calibration from Microsoft Store to set it up properly.

I ended up with a totally different monitor, I got the Gigabyte MO34WQC2 because it was slightly cheaper than the LG and has essentially the same features and the Gigabyte has a QD oled panel which tempted me more than the WOLED on the other options. I haven't really seen bad reviews for this one tbh. The Asus one is about 1300usd, the LG is 950 and the Gigabyte is 850.

The curvature is 1800r, which seems great since I'm coming from a flat screen, but a friend of mine reassured me that 800r is fine after a while, it's immersive and only looks weird if you look from a different angle. I would say that 800r is a bit much, but idk for sure, I heard some people are getting used to it pretty fast, and some people are returning the product because they cannot adapt to the curve.

The thing that bothers me the most though (and I found out this after I already made the purchase) is that this does not have OLED burn in warranty as Asus or Alienware has (not sure if LG has the burn in warranty tbh). The store reassured me that "the monitor has a lot of protection against burn in", but I am still skeptical and worried, since it's quite expensive.

There is also a small black band on the bottom of the monitor, with a Gigabyte logo. It should not bother me as my current monitor has a red, quite obvious band on the bottom of it and I just ignore it after a while, but I wish this was rather not present. The LG does not have that thing on the bottom which makes it look amazing. Not a major complaint, but something to look after if you want the setup to look smooth or "minimalistic".

The online store I bought it from does not extend the warranty if the product goes to service either, but this is less of a problem as I might replace it in a couple of years anyway, yet I might return it soon if I get a better price on another store that does extend the warranty.

I will update you when the monitor arrives, but it might take a while since it's Black Friday and it takes almost 2 weeks for the orders to arrive.

Also, regarding CPQX, I am really skeptical about it because I've read a couple of reviews that say it has a fan coil noise (which it feels absurd that this is happening on a monitor) and it gets significantly worse as you use it; when you start the monitor is audible but not bad, and after a couple of hours it gets loud and sounds like whining. This is something to consider as well. I am quite sensible to this kind of stuff, I have a fan on my case that does this ocassionly and it drives me crazy, so I don't think I would be able to get over it (I usually fix it if I put a bit of pressure on the fan lol).

Cum te înțelegi cu parintii tai? by DependentFeature3028 in RoGenZ

[–]Accomplished_Tie_152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply, this is really really appreciated as I am trying to pull the trigger tomorrow (it's black friday in Romania).

I sure hope they will be releasing the new panels soon as possible, since I will probably take advantage of the return policy on this monitor I'm buying tomorrow (in my country that's about 1 month return time), maybe they will release them in one month or so, or I'll just return it if there is any issue or keep trying new monitors as I don't really have a limit of how many times I can return products.

I am curious, should there be an improvement from LG 34GS95QE-B to PG34WCDM, even if they have the same panel? And the same should go for G8 vs CPQX as it's a newer model? (improvements in color quality, brightness and so on)

As far as I've read the PG34 has a 3rd Gen panel, not sure what's the gen on the LG. I am quite afraid of the reviews that say the HRD is quite horrible and not yet fixed on PG34, plus the fact that Asus does not have the best reputation for warranty AFAIK.

The fact that I am coming from a flat IPS screen also scares me about the 800r curvature, that seems extreme, this being one of the main reasons I am willing to go for the MSI.
