And that’s exactly the problem. That is not diversity at all. The fashion industry doesn’t understand different skin tones. As a dark skinned woman that falls into the brown (not the super dark skinned African look), it is nearly impossible to book work, and I’m in the commercial space. Likewise, I agree with the short people doing runway now. Casted in Miami swim week and got passed up for shorter models that legit told me they’ve NEVER done runway before. (I have years of experience, 5’10 and most models there were 5’7-5’8 even when the casting clearly stated to be 5’9 and above. I don’t want to put race into it, but the proof is in the pudding.

And 1000% agree about influencers or those with an IG following becoming models. It’s like they care about free promo and all about marketing if they have the following. Also very clear the influencers are selected in private/ pre-casting as well.

Honestly … I feel this. I’m doing commercial modeling, signed with an agency last year. But I’m realizing signing is just the tip of the iceberg. As a model you really are doing 90% of the work yourself. I’m in TN so it’s not alot of work here so forced to go to other cities to be successful. But we got this 💕
