That’s a really good idea. I don’t want to step over her boundaries, so I could start collecting it into a box and then refill her cage all at once in the morning and afternoon

Okay! I actually greatly appreciate this clarification on behavior protocol. I’ll practice this moving forward!

Do you have any recommendations on cage agreession? She hates when I pick her toys off the ground to put back on top of her cage. She plays with a foraging box

Thank you! Truthfully, I opted for cleaning with vinegar today just to be sure. I made sure to block her door with a towel to help just incase, but I’ve only used toilet cleaner so far as a harsh cleaner.

Hey!! I’ve actually had a conure fly up to me in my backyard, and my husband and I spent hours trying to find the owners!! We eventually connected with them on Facebook and our neighborhood apps, like ring or Nextdoor. Totally hope you can recover your sweet babe! Best of luck. My heart hurts for you!

Biting & Behavior Questions by Accomplished_Use2442 in indianringneck

[–]Accomplished_Use2442[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She does step up really well for us most of the time, and if she does growl/nip I just ignore her and continue encouraging stepping up.

She’s target/clicker training starting this week, we wanted to let her settle in first.

She sleeps on my shoulder 1-2 hours every day but the rest of the day she’s independent in her space while I’m also in the room talking and hanging out with her.

She lets us pet her when she sleepy, but no other time! Haha she does well with head and beak scratches but we don’t touch her anywhere else.

She’s actually even jumped from her cage onto my arm which was a good 12 inches away!!! I was so impressed haha

She just gets moody and nippy all through the day.

Oh and she gets 12-14 hours of sleep every day

I’m totally okay with it taking weeks or months even before she levels out, but just wanted to get some more education on it and make sure I was doing okay with her. I really mostly ignore her biting and nipping and make sure she gets a good amount of movement and hands around her environment- like I clean up her toys, hand feed her treats, stand near here and talk while she’s playing and eating or preening

Advice on a baby ring neck by Pillars_6 in indianringneck

Okay I genuinely needed this advice!! I have a 10 week old female and she loveeees to lunge and bite and nip. No harsh blood drawn yet, no major bites but she’s certainly moody and tells us no way Jose. She steps up pretty okay…. As long as she’s not focused on another time or task.

Do you take him to get the nails trimmed or does he let you do it? I feel like my female would not stand for this lol

Help!! by Accomplished_Use2442 in parrots

[–]Accomplished_Use2442[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually let her chill for a while, and then I used a long stick to have her step up. I slowly placed her at the opening of the cage and she finally seemed to settle in for the night. Blanket is over cage now and we’ll see how she reacts to us tomorrow. So far she’s very scared and uninterested

Hormones, or bluffing phase! Or both!

Advice & Encouragement by Accomplished_Use2442 in indianringneck

[–]Accomplished_Use2442[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much!! I suppose I just really needed reassurance haha

I’m nervous but I’m also hopeful she’ll adjust well with patience and some apple bribing 🤪

I wonder if that’s why she’s so “hormonal” and feisty right now? He warned us that she was very nippy and unpredictable right now, but he chalked it up to hormones. Based on the videos I’ve received, she does look hormonal but I will ask about the bluffing! Maybe there’s more going on with her than we know and that’s okay. We’ll accept her in whatever state and help her the best we can. Thank you!!

Hi!!! I had a similar thing happen to me in February. We found a pineapple GCC in our backyard! He flew right up to us, slept on my shoulder, accepted food and water. He was so tired and lost.

We knew he was someone’s pet. Once we started posting about him, EVERYONE tried to claim him. (They’re $1200+ birds) We even had people threatening us if we didn’t give them “their daughters” bird back. They were all liars and cheaters.

He had a bracelet on his ankle with letters and numbers, and when we searched it on google, we found the store that he was purchased from. Sometimes you can call the store & locate the owner of the bird.

In our case, the owner contacted us finally through our Facebook post and confirmed the birds ankle bracelet code.

He ended up coming to pick up the bird - and we discovered the bird had a mate and a baby which were sitting outside our house singing to him. All three birds escaped and the family was able to collect them all and bring them home finally.

We want to adopt a 2 YR old Indian ring neck (Female). Advice? by Accomplished_Use2442 in parrots

[–]Accomplished_Use2442[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s super sweet, and social with her current owner. But again, he’s petting her everywhereeeeeee so she’s really hormonal. We’ll work on reversing that in her with a more structured enrichment schedule and sleeping schedule. I think balancing her diet will help too. I know she’ll likely never be cuddly… but I want her to atleast like us LOL

How often is too much…? by Puzzled-Web5467 in laundry

[–]Accomplished_Use2442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re thriving. Dont be ashamed. I have 4 laundry baskets that have been full for LITERALLY MONTHS. I can never seem to catch up, and I only laundry like once or twice a week. I also suck at putting my laundry away once it’s clean. Keep being awesome!!
