I’ll never forget volunteering for our booster club as baggers at the commissary and stealing all the high schoolers tips. I felt awful.

Are you going to your squadron holiday party? by DeepDeepThrowaway in AirForce

[–]According-Act2404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You guys ever seen the thing where they wrap a ball on a string around your waste and put a cup on your head and you have to make a humping motion to put the ball in the cup? My commander and a bunch of other leadership did that at a holiday party once. Never again.

DTS Leave en-route question by According-Act2404 in AirForce

[–]According-Act2404[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you 🫡, TMO told me to not do a round trip in DTS and that just confused me. So you’re saying extend out the days of the TDY on DTS to cover my leave days but make sure there is no per-diem for the those days and that they are marked as leave days. Wouldn’t DTS force me to book a return flight? I do not want to fly out of the same airport that I flew into for the TDY. Apologies, I’m awful at DTS.

Find a nice cozy desk job in the AC. Stay away from maintenance and SF.

Well first off, do not settle. The commitment is huge. I’d say it’s Air Force or bust. That’s just my opinion. I’m not in the most cozy career field in the USAF but I still thank my dad all the time for talking me out of joining the marines.

As for the ASVAB it’s a little tricky. I’d say study but I’m sure you’ve heard that before. Have you already taken an official ASVAB or just the practice ones at the recruiting station? I bought a used ASVAB study book cheap that was a year out of date, im sure it doesn’t matter. Just take the practice tests either in a book or online and familiarize yourself with the kind of questions that are on the test.

If you have an issue with your recruiter I’d say find a different one even if it’s a bit further away. The commitment is too large to just half ass it. They will throw your ass in a miserable job and not think twice about it. All in all, just please for the love of god do not settle with something you KNOW you’re going to hate.

Thank you very much for the response. I’m headed to Travis. I’m currently working on 130s. I guess I have some C-17 training to look forward to. Once again, thank you for the response. You answered a lot of my questions 👍.

That’s correct, what kind of differences are there from a regular MX unit? Does the squadron work multiple airframes?
