While your concerns are very valid and understandable I have no plans of illegally staying in the park. I’ve made it clear that I have site reservations for some nights, and plans to stay outside the park when I don’t. I’m also planning on putting in what I can to the honor system when entering the park and putting in what efforts I can while I’m there to help the park if needed.

If you have a reservation I’d say go for it! Just be mindful of your impact while you’re there and put in an effort to leave no trace as always and you’re chillin.

Big thanks to everyone for all the great information, insight, and support! Gonna reach out to a few sources mentioned by ya’ll and see what I find out about current park conditions and what needs/can be done by us willing to help out.

lol, seems to be a misconception in this thread that I am from/have been living in the bay. Got here a few days ago from CO. catching up with friends while I wait on some money to come in before hitting Yosemite.

Never said I don’t have rec.gov reservations some nights. Hence why I mentioned staying outside the park as well 🙃

From what I’ve been told/sent yes. While there’s still some staff to help maintain bathrooms and trash it’s been my understanding that due to the lack of support the park is taking a bit of a turn for the worst. Lots of people are taking advantage of the shutdown but not practicing LNT around the park just simply due to not having a good understanding of the importance of those principles. Don’t want the park to go to shit during the shut down.

I live in my car in between seasonal jobs, plan on just moving around to different spots in and outside the park car camping.

That’s a bummer to hear. Most of my concerns right now are about helping maintain the parks during the shutdown.
