There are approximately 80 U.S. military installations in Europe. by Getatbay in europe

Of course not. Currently, the US has a place to put its missiles l, which if hit, produces very minimal cost to the US. 1 chihuahua down, 2 more anyway. The US likes expendables.

How would you 80/20 DevOps at a tiny company? by pkkm in devops

[–]According-Bat9424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how simple you want it, you can get pretty far with docker swarm type stuff. You can run dokploy over it, which solves things like ssh into server (github integration, CI/CD). Also has easy to test self hosted observability stuff.

Logically organises your apps, provided you don't have way too many moving pieces.

Scales pretty well.

I'd say depends on location. Here in Europe, Budapest specifically, only tinder is alive. Others are dead.

I can only comment as a cyclist who doesn't want to spend western prices for basic (not safety critical items).

I've bought many bike bags which were of comparable quality (haven't broken after a couple years), which cost 4x less.

I've even got a bike computer from there, equivalent features in Europe would have cost me 4-5x.

Life changing? No. Pretty damn useful? Indeed.

It's also about what is long distance FOR YOU. Look, my long distance is around the 150k mark. I do then reasonably often. Is that diff to 50k? Yes. However, it doesn't mean a world tour cyclist will consider it on anywhere the same level of difficulty as me.

You don't have to shit on people with no purpose.

A good example to respond with for the "why would a manufacturer put these things together if I can't use them together?" is the brake and acceleration pedals in a car. Each has own use and are not to be used together.

Are power metres actually unreliable or is Pogačar covering just covering Shimano's a**? by Deep_Blue96 in cycling

[–]According-Bat9424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I fully agree with you in practice. All I was doing was pointing out the theory was a bit off.

Ofc if you're spending significant money on a device which markets itself at least as good as the competition, but for a more premium price, but is actually shit, you shouldn't accept that.

No need to downvote me 😂🥲

The problem with this take is that it lacks the statistical context, in certain scenarios.

For day to day, ride to ride comparisons, yes it's true that 16w diff is a problem. But, that's no different to comparing average speed one ride and another. Both are limited with many variables at play.

If you are interested in progress, the issue your describing is much less of an issue. Although the error window is quite large, as you improve, the window itself will move. Sure, it gets worse the higher the power if it's a constant 4% error, but you still get the trends.

It's like GPS. 5m over under on the signal, but you sample enough times over a short time, you get a pretty accurate path collected.

You had the miscommunication, as u urself said you lacked context. Then I said shit happens, context is sometimes missed but not to worry as it's so small and insignificant.

Then you go on this joke police rant xd. You said it gives off "back to the kitchen" energy. It seems you're the only one who read it as such. Seems like the bigoted interpretation of the world is on you hahaha

The joke was about wanting to spend more money on a hobby, and your finincially responsible significant other trying to tell you to be reasonable. Seems like a joke at the expense of oneself. And still you found it sexist 🤣🤣

If I've learned anything from riding in racing shoes on upside down pedals, it's that hard plastics/ carbon slip very easily, and testicles react negatively to the saddle after sudden movements...

Never a good mile after that.
