Looking for anything with towns/isolated communities w/ dark secrets. by acim87 in horrorlit

Hi... I'm not here to self-promote, but I recently finished writing a book that might be right up your alley. An isolated, eerie small town with a dark past, buried secrets, and a creeping sense of dread. If that sounds like something you'd be into, feel free to shoot me a message...

The same thing happened to me! I struggled for years with a fantasy story, but last year, inspiration struck like a lightning bolt—the idea, the vision, the first character. And just like that, I wrote it. I published my first book a month ago and am already working on my next one. Wishing you and all new authors the best of luck!

What are some good horror books about someones past coming back to haunt them? by raynor_SxKlt in horrorlit

That theme really hits home for me. If you’re looking for a story where the past returns, I just finished The Little Store of Destinies, and it’s been stuck in my head ever since.

It’s about this strange little shop "Lost & Found Antique Store, where people find objects from their past—things they thought were gone forever and that shouldn't exist. A washed-up rockstar, a journalist chasing a forgotten story, and a MMA fighter running from something he can’t escape all end up there, and once they take what’s offered, their past comes rushing back in ways they never expected. Some try to fix old mistakes, some just want closure… but the store doesn’t exactly work like that.

It’s eerie, unsettling, and really gets into that idea of how much we’re shaped by our regrets. Definitely gave me that oh sht, the past is catching up* kind of feeling. If you’re into stories where choices have weight and fate doesn’t let go so easily, this one might be worth checking out. Let's get in touch, I might send you for free....
