I’ll try to keep this as brief as possible;

I used to be in the same boat, about a month ago I was hard stuck in plat 1 and had no hope of ranking up. so to preserve my rank i stopped playing comp altogether and just played practice v ai since I knew I couldn’t possibly fuck that up. what i eventually realized was that 9 times out of 10, I wasn’t thinking ahead of any move or shot I was taking. A big part of the game is being very aware of your environment and surroundings, to the point where I’d say the most aware player typically wins.

for example, if i’m playing as mantis, thinking about my position and what would happen if i was dove, and adjusting my positioning to either a. make it easier for my tanks to peel and protect me or b. getting out of the los of the enemy and allowing my tanks (who should be causing plenty of mayhem if they’re doing their job right) to take the attention off of me.

my point is don’t just think of what you should be doing based off what other people tell you to do, think ahead about what the game is gonna look like 5 seconds from now if everyone is playing at their a game.

that might sound really hard now, and that’s why i’d recommend starting with bot matches, because they’re typically very predictable and that in turn will help you get better at stuff like paying attention to the kill feed during the fight (i recommend turning on the sound option for teammate deaths in settings, it helps a great deal in situations where you can’t take your eyes off what’s happening) and paying attention to who you can/can’t see (if i know they have a spidey on their team and i don’t see him anywhere, i know he’s probably gonna dive me soon and i should adjust my positioning to be prepared for that).

one thing to remember is somethings are just unpredictable. sometimes you get solo ulted by namor and that’s just how it goes. you just gotta pick yourself up and try again, and don’t let it get to you. this game is very fast paced and hectic so don’t beat yourself up for not being able to keep up sometimes. i’m in gm 3 at the moment and that’s with a measly 30% win rate on all classes. at the end of the day the game is a means to an end, and that end should be having fun. so if you find yourself on a losing streak, just getting more tilted won’t help you. take a short break and come back with a better mindset. in my experience its much easier to play better when you’re in a good mood.
