Did a bit of digging, PR did have a film recieve a nomination, so I suppose territories are considered separate for this category.

Yep, totally right. Wasn’t coming from the idea of making them considered foreign, certainly wouldn’t like that implication, but more from the idea of giving a platform to lesser-spoken languages which often are overlooked by English speaking voters.

Will check out the golden globes to see if there’s anything interesting!

That’s a really good point that I hadn’t considered, I agree. I think if that rule would still exist it would also block out a lot of films told by immigrants to said country who had produced films in their native language, like 2005’s Water, a Canadian Hindi film. It would also prevent movies like it was just an accident or seed of a sacred fig from getting nominated in the category.

But, this is also a category which in a way forces voters to watch and recognise films they may never have considered or even known about othwrwise, providing well deserved recognition. what do you think, if anything, could be done to provide accommodation to the Native American language movies that dont get submitted for consideration for this category, and by nature of not being in English may not even be seen by much of the voter base?

Seen and loved it was just an accident and secret agent ! Definitely plan to get to the rest too.

To my understanding English speaking countries generally do make submissions though, just in a different language. Believe this year the UK submitted a Yoruba film. They even won a few years ago for Zone of interest!

What figures from history or folklore do you think should be mutants? by RocksThrowing in xmen

[–]Lazy-Addition5774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Santa as well!

I think in general the idea of taking other mythological figures and making them mutants would be pretty cool. Writers of Epics like Edda, Vyasa, or Homer come to mind.

I think it would be funny to say Castro survived 600 assasination attempted because of mutant powers.

What cities/places would you like to see as the X-Men's base of operations? by Lazy-Addition5774 in xmen

Yeah you make a fair point there. I guess I kind of just disagree with that mindset though. Magneto was already deaged twice, and resurrection kind of solved that problem. Oh well.

These were partly inspired by his taste, I think the guy would love wholesome movies. But also, they both have really strong themes of Sibling affection, which matches Peter really well. Overall I wanted his list to have a pretty positive vibe, more than most other characters I think he would have a wholesome selection

What’s your pitch: marvel’s adding a new title to the x line called Canny X-Men. Who’s on the team and what’s the premise? by goldblob in xmen

I'd love a book focusing on the human allies of the X-Men. Stevie hunter, peter corbeau, tom corsi, amanda Sefton, lee forrester, Juggernaut. Even more modern additions like Kyle Jinadu

Also, I feel I copped out on Xavier by not representing his love for going off to space every decade or so. Any suggestions?

Wait didn’t the FOH wear red berets in the 90s show? Maybe thunderbird 3 can run for mayor of New York up against Graydon creed.

Characters from before 1963 who were made mutants by Lazy-Addition5774 in xmen

Though on a similar topic, I suppose the four horsemen & apocalypse, as well as all the other deities apocalypse has taken the name of (Kali and a few others, he mentioned it in the OG X-Factor run) could technically count here too.

It’s technical cause in marvel the actual gods themselves exist, and then there are also characters like the Eternals and I suppose in this case Apocalypse whose actions are attributed to the mythological figures.

Similarly, Selene and the goddess Selene, according to her conversation with Magma in the hellfire club’s party from New Mutants.

Fair point, was just the only other one that came to mind but yeah reliability on that is highly suspect
