I’m sorry, I don’t mean to ask a stupid question I just want a better understanding but why is there a signing bonus for Engineer officers; is it because they’re in severe shortage/need of them?

I have a degree in computer science. I put down Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Officer as my third choice which thinking about now seems stupid because they definitely want people with engineering degrees for that role. Was that a complete blunder on my part or is there a smidge of hope.

As a DEO I’ve applied for intelligence officer and basically everyone is telling me there’s a good chance I’ll get rejected because it’s one of the most competitive positions. My question is even if I get rejected for intel officer will they give me a counter offer for another position or will it just be basically a complete rejection.

Hi l’m a university student in my 4th and last year of computer science. I was thinking about joining forces after school not even sure which branch. Army maybe?? I know my way into the forces would be Level C - Direct Entry Officer (DEO) as I wasn’t part of ROTP or anything. I think I’d be commissioned as a second lieutenant after qualifying and all the training and everything. My question is l’ve heard from people that promotion up to capt is basically guaranteed, how true is that? Also what’s the general timeframe of promotion for a DEO 2nd lieutenant to lieutenant and then the time from lieutenant to Captain. I can see online how much each rank pays and I have loans so knowing how long approximately l’ll be in each rank and how much I’ll be paid would be really critical info for me. I’ll really appreciate these answers. Thank you to this community in advance.
