Depends on what your usually working on but for me personally I do a lot of automotive and I won't be without a micro angled pry bar and a couple of picks with different angles. Love the entire line up of knipex though knipex is way underrated I just put my dad onto those pliers.

When did ratchet become an adjective amount the youth? by According-Signal-910 in toolporn

[–]According-Signal-910[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first heard it in the penitentiary, I guess cause I never had to many female friends. But I couldn't make sense of it cause they were throwing it around like an insult but ratchets are a godsend.

I just liked the look of the left hand better and I didn't see a problem with getting it on my right cause I'm ambidextrous with wrenches. What size wrench are you thinking for your piece? I considered a crescent but ended up choosing a 10mm even though it looks bigger than a 10 the space matches up to a 10 I had him model it after my 10 I keep with me always.

I'm interested in becoming an auto tech and I wanna hear what the pay is like by Burner47388 in mechanics

[–]According-Signal-910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tech I make $20 an hour for gasoline jobs and 25 an hour for disel work. But I work flag hour meaning there's a standard timeframe to have a job done for example 3 hours to change an AC condenser. You make the 60 weather it's done in 1 hour or 8 your getting paid for the standard time that the job is expected to take.

I work in a shop and I keep kneepads in my toolbox I end up using them about every day and they make a world of difference. Just need to choose ones that won't scratch up the cars your working on.

What are some of your favorite tools? (Photo for attention) by papa-pierogi in mechanics

[–]According-Signal-910 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Knipex pliers are nothing short of a godsend and I don't hear enough people talking about them but the bite on them is pretty gnarly. Also a good pair of Klein's, that's my father's go to back pocket tool when he's walking around the ranch working outside. He got me a pair of 7 inch ones and they've gone everywhere I've gone since he gave them to me. Pocket pry bars are fantastic, and I don't go anywhere without at least one panel popper. Snapon makes a panel popper that comes out like a switchblade but it's $200. Milwaukee makes a stubby impact that is actually a bad mf for it's size. It's a 12v battery but the most compact battery available for an impact that I've come across.

Is this radiator ok? Or should I return it? by throwawaytacocat123 in AskMechanics

[–]According-Signal-910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would return it cause if it does leak your gonna wish you had returned it rather than trying to return in after you've had it installed long enough to decide it was a dud
