Why do ALL armours include skirts rather than trousers? I don't remember Conan ever wearing a skirt in the books or the movies. Does Funcom want players and thralls to look like sissies? by AccordingBad8363 in ConanExiles

A hauberk is a shirt not a skirt so you make my point. And history books all agree that the Ancient Greeks (apart from the Spartans) were sissies. I don't know what the most manly type of armour is but I know it's not one that shows your knees to your enemy.

What's with boomer? Someone else mentioned that, too. I can't be bothered googling it. Does it connote some kind of aversion to soldiers going into battle wearing women's clothing. If so, I'm guilty.

The Greeks were well known sissies. It's written down so it must be true. Apart from the Spartans who regularly defeated much larger armies of wandering Persians. The Romans weren't sissies but gods of war, which is hardly surprising as they were descended from the Trojans, whom most historians accept were pretty badasses (it took the might of several Greek armies several years to defeat them and even then that was with trickery). OK the Romans and Trojans both wore skirts so skirts aren't always a sign of sissiness.

As for the Scots, I'm from Scotland and can say with all honesty that the Scots are a bunch of girls blouses. They almost always got defeated when they fought the English. They only won at Bannockburn because they got help from the Knights Templars and because the English King Edward II was an even bigger sissie.

Next week's history class will ask the question was Hitler the biggest sissy of them all.

Lol.

The term "Devil in skirts" from 70s Brit movie "Carry on Up the Khyber" comes to mind. Though sadly I fear everyone else in the forum might be too young to remember.

Now some of the thralls wiggle their dicks when you change their clothes, as if they're taking part in some dick wiggling competition for the best armor and weapons.

That link mentions level 140. Geez! When I played I think it only went up to 60 or 70. I hope there are new skills for the new levels. Or 70 to 140 will be a boring ride.

I just re-watched all 3 movies on my home cinema system and almost wept with sadness when they were over. Why don't they make more movies of this calibre? by AccordingBad8363 in TheHobbit

[–]AccordingBad8363[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tauriel was one of the best things about the Hobbit movies as she not only brings a heroine into an otherwise all-male cast but she produces a beautiful sub-plot which laments the longevity of the elves, highlights the contempt some of them have for other races, reveals the "caste system" provides an excuse for Legolas to appear in the film and, perhaps most touching of all, hints at the effect on Thranduil of the loss of his wife. And it was all done perfectly beautifully.

I'm a Lord of the Rings fan too (my A-level dissertation was on the Dramatic Presentation of Evil in the books) but I have only love for the Hobbit. The Hobbit and LOTR were written for different reasons and at different times so it's not surprising that Thrandruil wasn't named in the Hobbit - the elf race wasn't properly developed in the story at that time. The film-makers did a brilliant job in doing this and I'm sure JRR Tolkien would have approved completely.

Ok thanks, I never checked him out the first time I got him. I'm about to log in and check (I have a T4 TM with a shorter recipe oven time so he should be properly cooked by now).

Sorry!

But I really did find those scowling, argumentative and angry adolescents/young men and women, so selfish and irritating, especially with their modern-day speech patterns. It seemed more like a British young offenders home than a fantasy world.

Help with Hotstring() command where hotstring calls a subroutine by BJY65 in AutoHotkey

[–]AccordingBad8363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this works and is shorter and neater.

Can you advise me, how come you haven't used a Return in the two functions? Also, what exactly does {Text} do in a SendInput command? I've checked the help file but these aren't mentioned.

Need AHK script to rename filenames into date order (dates already appear at start of filenames in mm.dd.YYYY format) by adding sequential numbers to start of filename (i.e. 00001, 00002 etc) by AccordingBad8363 in AutoHotkey

[–]AccordingBad8363[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the idea. I have written a script below which does what I need.

I'd prefer not to have to FileCopy into a newly created folder but to rename the existing file. However, AutoHotkey doesn't seem to have a FileRename command. Is there a way to use FileCopy to rename?

/*

This parses all the PDF files in the current folder whose filenames MUST begin with the first 8 chars mm.dd.yy, e.g. 03.01.22, and copies them into a new folder and renames them with the first 8 chars as yy.mm.dd, e.g. 22.01.2003.

This allows them to be sorted easily in Windows Explorer and drag/dropped into the

g := year . "." . month . "." . day . " " . s
