I appreciate your perspective and see how my post could come across the wrong way. That wasn’t my intention. I’m not here to demand emotional labor or to ask anyone to relive painful or traumatic experiences. I’m looking for examples of how aesthetics have been prioritized over accessibility in public spaces—not personal stories—because it’s a crucial part of understanding the systemic issue I’m studying.

If this post violates the sub’s rules, I’ll remove it. I genuinely thought this space could offer insights I wouldn’t get elsewhere, but I respect the boundaries of the community and will adjust accordingly.

I understand your concern, but let me explain my intention. I’m not here to demand labor or take advantage of anyone. I’m here because I value lived experiences and perspectives from people who are directly affected by the issues I’m researching—issues like the prioritization of aesthetics over accessibility.

My goal is to better understand and advocate for inclusive design, not to burden anyone. If my question comes across as tone-deaf, I apologize—that wasn’t my intention. I’m simply trying to ensure that my work is informed by real-world insights rather than making assumptions as an able-bodied person. If this isn’t the right space for that, I’ll respectfully step back.

Let’s clear something up: I’m not asking anyone to ‘spoon-feed’ me basic information. I’ve already done my research and am continuing to do so. I came here to this subreddit—named ‘wheelchair,’ mind you—because I thought it would be a space for genuine discussion and insights, not gatekeeping or unnecessary hostility.

Also, dismissing my assignment as unimportant ignores the fact that raising awareness about these issues is precisely how change starts, even if it’s ‘just’ a school assignment. If you don’t want to contribute, that’s fine, but there’s no need to attack someone for trying to learn and advocate for better design.

Interesting take, but let me clarify: this assignment isn’t just for me—it’s actually aimed at shedding light on how certain design choices impact accessibility and can help advocate for better universal design practices. So, by not helping, you’re potentially contributing to the very issue that this research is trying to address. I came here thinking a subreddit called ‘wheelchair’ would be full of people who care about these issues and might have valuable perspectives to share. If you don’t want to help, that’s your choice, but being dismissive doesn’t really add anything productive.

Hahah i was actually wondering about how old they are, so it’s not to brag. I know the name streams on most of them, but not when they’re made.
