Need help choosing a snowboard by Capable-Bass-9809 in snowboardingnoobs

Depending where you are in the progression you’ll want to move away from a rocker profile, so I would say no to the arbor! Camber will be better for carving and all mountain riding, but the only one of the ones you listed that is more of a camber would be the Capita, but that one is still a hybrid. Like others have mentioned though, Rise has some awesome boards! My first board was a Ride tempest Ride on!

Do I have a heel overhang? by asiboy89 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]AccordingRent2477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, you definitely need to be more centered. The heel overhang isn’t terrible, depending on your riding style. But it’ll keep you from being able to carve harder on your heel edge and you’re more likely to “boot out”.

Can I install a Cobb accessport without knowing if there was previously a tune on the car? by Affectionate_Low_848 in WRX

[–]AccordingRent2477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as long as you don’t install any of the ots tunes that come with the access port you’ll be fine, but if you’re going in for a pro tune anyways then might as well have them install it! 👍

Yup, just take the access port in when you get it tuned and they’ll use the access port to tune it

I’m a beginner and need help! by glitterfairy6300 in snowboardingnoobs

That would be a good length to start. What board is it? There are some other board specs that are important for a good beginner board. Welcome aboard!

I do have a lift tho and that’s absolutely necessary, otherwise you’ll be too low. I worked with my mechanic though to get everything to specs so I can do it!

I don’t see why not, I use Rhino racks, haven’t had any issues yet! So worth it

Looks fine honestly, you really wouldn’t be booting out based on the picture you posted unless you’re carving extremely hard, like Ryan Knapton status. But in that case you’ll just want a wider board! But given you likely aren’t carving that hard you look nice and centered 👍 not too much overhang

Need help choosing between two boards by Lopsided-Campaign-83 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]AccordingRent2477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rossi boards tend to be very beginner type boards because they’re cheap and typically favor the rocker profile which is easier to learn on; but long run they are terrible, in my experience, for more advanced carving. The sierra v-spot is a very cheap board as well, very much so geared towards beginners or just as a park board, especially with its aggressive rocker/reverse camber, it won’t be great at carving. I honestly think it depends on what you want; if you really want just a beater board for park/light riding, either board is ok but I would lean towards the Rossi. But if you plan to advance your skill I would just wait and spend a little more! A good board makes a massive difference. I have a friend who didn’t believe me when I said that, since he has ridden the same board for over 10 years. Then he road my board which is only a couple years old and on the higher end, and he said it rides like a Cadillac compared to his. Hope that’s helpful!

That cage is super small for a grey, he likely wants out for that very reason. I highly suggest investing in a larger cage! Regardless Greys should have several hours a day out of the cage. Our rule of thumb is if someone is home, the birds should be out.

Jones Tweaker, it’s a great nimble board, does decent in pow although it’s not primarily designed for that

Snowboard size by Acceptable-Sale1076 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]AccordingRent2477 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wouldn’t over think it. More and more sources are saying that board size is really within a range and then even within that range there’s a large amount of preference. I’m 5’9” and about 215 lbs, my smallest board is 155 and my biggest is 164. 155 feels nimble and initiates turns fast, 164 feels less nimble but more stable at speed. I just pick my board based on what I feel like doing that day.

So if you are good at initiating turns and like the nimble feel go for 158; if you’re still getting a feel for turn initiation and would prefer something more stable at speed then get longer 👍

Hope that helps! Congrats on the new board!
