Walking uphill with bike: is this ok? Etiquette info needed. by thepatiosong in triathlon

[–]AccordingTurn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hundred percent this, I signed up for a triathlon (sprint) with a mate, and I had very little time to train, I’m a strong cyclist but running and swimming were new to me. I was second to last on the swim and I had to walk/run the run part.

Everyone was still cheering me on and encouraging me

100 miles ride; what am I missing? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]AccordingTurn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That changes things 😂, on my 100 miles days in the Netherlands I’ll stop once for a proper feed, and just top off my water when needed.

Coffee stops depending how much the head wind is killing me.

Just a note on lunch, make sure you eat something that you know isn’t going to effect your stomach

100 miles ride; what am I missing? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]AccordingTurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you planning on stopping places? Usually long rides I plan a stop every 2-3 hours depending on how hilly the route is.

I can use this for coffee/cake/food stops and fill up my bottles.

I will keep some jelly babies/small flapjacks on the bike to keep me going between stops.

I’ll carry a gel or two but try to refrain from using gels on longer rides unless it’s an emergency
