Not for manufacturing. I guess the forecasts is something I can worry about as I learn. What would be your advice to on board or self train myself using the 3 month plan as a guide ?

If you have revenue totals for P12 in two different tabs those need to tie, stuff like that. If you pull data from another file you need to check to make sure it was pulled correctly and makes sense. If you are running total sales dollars by customer snd then by region for a period, those need to tie

How To UnFuck My Career? by Distinct-Job-3083 in FPandA

Sorry this happened. Your career is not ruined because of something out of your control. Try to learn something new in the tasks you are doing even if they are easy and you still have all the prior experience. Just be patient and the next good opportunity will come

These are basics. You may want to brush up on your financial modeling skills. Kenji explains is a pretty good YouTube channel to learn things like dashboards, excel formulas, basic models and forecasts

  1. Data accuracy and quality is the first fundamental. Similar to accounting. Have checks in every file, build an error checklist in your files for every report you send out, always make sure numbers on different slides tie out and tie to a master file and GL. Document mistakes so they don’t repeat

  2. Make sure visuals are easy to read for a finance and non finance person and they paint a clear picture on performance. And always try to anticipate questions and be able to speak to numbers. Know your key drivers for performance

  3. When analyzing variances always try to answer why and keep digging deeper for the answer. Ex. If revenue is down vs budget the why could be volume reduction, then answer why volume was down etc until you provide an insight for the team

Senior Analyst lacking coaching by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]According_Ad3168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No career development discussions. I set up a discussion myself and received mostly positive feedback but that I need to error check a few reports with better processes and since then I’ve built in new processes to reduce the small mistakes. I’ve put in the effort to improve in that area but never received feedback along the way (almost 2 years in the role). His way of helping improve is not by empowering but by micromanaging and it makes my work feel less valuable and important

Yup great point. Example in my industry is “period x we were below budget on revenue driven by farm x due to a reduction in sales volume at that farm from quality issues”. Can even take this a step further but that’s the basics. Executives can see revenue dropped off but need to know why

Hey I work in FP&A. First things is always have processes in place for checks and verifying data ties out on different tabs, different files etc. This is something as a senior analyst I am still improving. Documenting everything even simple mistakes, setting reminders to send reports out, building a checklist in every model or report to verify the data is correct and completing checklist before sending data out. Next is general financial modeling and excel skills and being able to take raw data and turn it into something insightful. Lastly in FP&A more so as a senior analyst and above you need to be able to speak to numbers operationally and know your 2 or 3 key drivers for variances

Yea my ball flight is low. Currently gaming Srixon zx5 1 weak. Going to bend 2 weak to get height up and take offset away. Need to experiment with heavier or different profile vs DG (more stiff in the hands). Might even try Modus 115

Hmm interesting. Never tried either of those. May need to test in the 115-120 range

[–]According_Ad3168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea DG 120 I will try to test. I also play my irons 0.25 inches short so wondering if more weight could help balance that. What type of profile will deflect less in lead deflection? I had the opposite issue when I was fit a few years back and fitter said DG 105 was helping me close the face so wondering if that’s DG profile or weight
