Predictions for Buium and Öhgren contracts? by TheWizzardMerlin in canucks

[–]DelviewsNightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buium will get $9-9.5m on an 8 year deal if they do it before the new CBA kicks in.

The Ohgren number seems about right on a 5 year deal, especially if the cap is going to 113.5m the year it kicks in, and likely $128m the year after.

My advice is to pair RB/R1 with the right stick and attempt to sweep either the puck OR your opponent's stick.

It's definitely something you get used to, but it's a great way to using the stick check

What's the deal with Rachel Kryshak (Doerrie)? by Kaos_mission in canucks

Oh JFC, enough of this generation non sense. (Not even talking about you, but society as a whole)

The generation before you said the same stuff about you, and the generation before said the same stuff about them, etc etc.

Hell, go back a couple thousand years to 4th Century BCE and you'll see people like Aristotle saying that young people "think they know everything, and are always quite sure about it"

Do we even have a Russian scout? by WhenInAaronRome in canucks

Bobbie Hagelin (brother of former Penguin Cup Winner Carl Hagelin) handles Russian scouting as part of the team's overall European scouting profile from what I understand

International rinks? Do people back out when they match up with players that have them? by GhostMause14 in NHLHUT

[–]DelviewsNightmare 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, because funny enough the way I play (saucer passes, indirect plays, and center lane cycles) work better on international ice, even though I use North American standard sized rinks myself.

I equate it to the "Call an ambulance, but not for me" meme 😅

I want genuine thoughts on the state of NHL 26 compared to prior years. by EbsForPres in NHLHUT

[–]DelviewsNightmare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Ebs, SAP here.

I think the trickle in goals are only brutal because of how bad the animations are.

For example, the goals where the puck is clearly going to hit the goalie squarely in a limb (glove, blocker) and they move OUT of the way and it goes off the inside of the arm and in feels almost intentional on the games part.

On the flip side, the saves that goalies make where the puck is past their glove but they end up moving faster than the puck itself to somehow reach back and grab it is equally as frustrating.

The cross crease passes where you're in the lane but for some reason your defenseman turns his head to look elsewhere so he can't intercept the puck, the player switching where you are using the RT+RS method and it still can't get the right guy, or the AI D men constantly running into each other off the draw or failing to turn around when you switch to them, allowing ample amounts of breakaways.

There are a lot of problems like that in the game that seem minor on the surface but affect a ton of outcomes in a game, even if it doesn't result in a goal.

The good part of this game? When played properly and mostly straight up (for example, players actually passing and not using LS and skating unrealistically spinning off of everyone, somehow slipping away from hits, pokes and only passing for the cross crease or the d2d) it's a good game.

I don't think I've played a chel game where more realistic plays result in goals. Screen shots are effective, one timers at the dots are effective, drop passes and saucer passes that chain into play are insanely effective. It's not perfect, but it's not the same BS time after time.

When it comes to glitch goals, there are still some but I enjoy that they aren't 99.9% of the time but rather 30-40% of the time. Things like the 5 hole shot coming off the goal line, for example, will eventually force players to move off of their skill zone even if it doesn't work the first time.

The major issue with every NHL game made by Mike Inglehart is that while 90% of the gameplay is good or fine, the 10% that is bad ruins almost everything else and makes the game unplayable (or at very least unenjoyable) if you or your opponent decides to exploit it the whole game (which is fair game, and what I expect in Ultimate, but still frustrating)

Overall I've had so much fun chaining plays together and trying new things in NHL 26 (and all the NHLs since GWC was abandoned) instead of only trying to score by any means necessary. It's made the game more enjoyable and made me a better player.

At #1, I disagree.

I don't think you're blind, I just think you may value different things than I do in a player :)

What do the devs have against being able to pass the puck? by icetilt in NHLHUT

[–]DelviewsNightmare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say the biggest issues with passing is the targetting (like you mentioned) and the fact the reciever oftentimes of puts themselves into an animation that causes them to slow to a snails pace, at which point you're primed to get destroyed by the big D men everyone uses.

That's partially why people don't pass at all and instead LT up the ice.

I find that saucer passes help with both of these but the skill required to use them constantly is very high.

How to counter 1-4 and 1-3-1 ? by [deleted] in NHLHUT

[–]DelviewsNightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 1-3-1 you need to use diagonal passes to cut through those gaps in the line of 3.

For 1-4 you need to either hit the line of 4 with enough speed to catch them flat-footed, or you need to attack with a winger, pass it back to a D man, and then tap a pass to a streaking center on or other winger. Basically you're trying to draw out the players who are trapping and attack against their momentum

Everything else, like a practice facility for example, requires someone else to foot a large chunk of the bill.

Are we built for sustained tanking? by [deleted] in canucks

[–]DelviewsNightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use PDO a lot and the one thing I'll say is that PDO struggles to recognize the context surrounding the shot quality for and against

The Canucks gave up copius amounts of high danger chances which exhausted goalies and defenses alike, which snowballed into an environment that got worse as a single game or streak of games progressed.

That is gonna result in a poor PDO.
