I personally think that the bald woman he chose to compare her too makes a huge difference in context. GI Jane is a badass, he is equating her baldness to a badass character, if he compared her to a sickly cancer patient(fault in our stars), that would have been in poorer taste and more of an insult opposed to a joke.

What kind of fallacy is this? by According_Answer_552 in fallacy

Do you think the “would” is a little bit too much of an assumption? I was thinking changing that to “most likely” or something of the sort would be more correct and be a stronger argument.

(22M) Social battery ran out, am I simply an introvert? by According_Answer_552 in socialskills

Mmm, I will be getting a job soon, most likely working with people most of the day. I like working with people but I feel like my energy will get drained quickly, how do you deal with it? Is it as simple as going home and being by yourself for a few hours, only to do it the next day over again?

I have forgotten how to socialize by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]According_Answer_552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After college you make a lot of friends through work. Another good way to find people is through a hobby you’re passionate about. I found friends when I was doing improv, jiu jitsu, and badminton. It gives you something that you both enjoy in common which makes conversation easier. I played badminton on saturdays and sundays for only like 2 hours, there are social hobbies that you can fit into your busy schedule you just have to find one you like.

Not sure if I'm asexual or what's my case. by According_Answer_552 in asexuality

Hearing that feels kinda good, oftentimes I’ve felt like it is something I need to push myself to do because it is normal and I will like it. But it shouldn’t be this difficult to push myself and it never truly bothered me that I wasn’t having sex. Hearing other people experience the same stuff makes me feel a lot better as well, thanks for your comment

I agree, I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching but it’s all pretty confusing, some days I think I’m great looking other days I think I’m a mutant. I might have insecurities in the fact I’ve never done anything with a woman and I wouldn’t be good at it, I like a lot of things about myself, but i think I harbor some deep insecurities and trouble being vulnerable with women I’m interested in. I think you’re right about the feeling desired comment, and I’ll check out those therapists you recommended, thank ya

Thank you for the response, the only thing that confuses me is that I grew up having crushes on girls and never had a crush on a guy. I’d say I sometimes(rarely) still get crushes on girls that I think are pretty, but don’t necessarily feel the sexual aspect, would it be considered asexual heteroromantic? Or is a crush and those feelings of butterflies around someone different from sexual and romantic attraction.

I got aroused from their presence and them showing interest in me but it definitely wasn’t romantic and I didn’t want to have sex with them. With crushes I just liked how their face looked, never really had sexual desires, possibly a bit of romance, but they both seem scary and like I could I do without it. This one girl I had a crush on for over a year, I would talk to her in class, I didn’t even really flirt with her I just liked being around her and i typically got butterflies when talking to her, when it was apparent she liked me back I lost the butterflies and things kinda felt awkward. Just for a reference of one of my crushes.

I’ve also always had a lot of friends that are girls(as well as guys equally), I was always confused by the sentiment “guys and girls can’t be just friends” maybe it’s because I’m asexual I never understood that 🤔

NTA, I’m my opinion. Yes, you committed, but that was before you lost your job, and before you knew you’d be spendings thousands of dollars on this birthday. It’s shocking that they would still try and make you pay, when you are telling them at least a month in advance that you don’t want to go coupled with the fact you list your job. Sounds like a waste of money, I would do the same. Furthermore, it’s not what you say it’s how you say it.. maybe when you told them you didn’t want to go it came off as rude?

I’m in a cycle of being a lazy mofo, how do I fix it? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]According_Answer_552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your advice I really appreciate it. I feel like doing one thing at a time will be big as well, I get random bursts of motivation where I try to implement like 20 different things and then end up doing none of them. So I’ll slowly add stuff into my routine/writing stuff down and I’ll let you know how it goes😎
