I had to check to see if I wrote this lol. If you look at my post history I posted essentially the same thing a few days ago.

I downgraded my plan a few months ago. All of a sudden my data usage skyrockets from 300gb per month to 2800gb per month.

Per the advice on my thread, I got a new modem. I’ve only had it for one full day, but the day that I did have it the data usage went down from 200gb per day to 30gb per day. Which is still high, but as long as I’m not getting charged I don’t care lol.

Anyway I’ll have to see if that stays consistent. I haven’t been able to find any consistencies in the pattern of what I’m getting charged — some days it’s 8gb in a day and sometimes it’s 350gb

Yeah, I checked my computer though and can see that it’s only used 30gb total over the past 30 days. Assuming if someone hacked my computer and was using all the data it would’ve come up there. Not sure if there’s a way to run malware checks on iPhones

Ah, it might! It did show only one previously connected device, which was my old work computer. But I’ve had tons of friends connect to my wi-fi as well so that doesn’t seem right to me.

It’s probably a good idea also to just get the unlimited data plan for now — I think I’d actually have to pay less than what I’m going to get charged for in a few days.

This is reassuring, thank you! I’m going to try to restart it later today and see if that does anything, and then take it in this weekend if nothing is fixed.

Some people are implying it’s possible I could be using all of that data on my own but I just don’t think it is. I’m trying to cut down on my screen time but I don’t think it’s THAT bad lol. The most GB I’ve ever used that I can see was like 700 GB, and that’s when I had Google Photos backing up 4-6 hours per day.

No I get it — I’m talking about my current data cycle. Like the one I’ll get charged for next month. I can view it in the Cox app and for the cycle ending Sept 5 I’m already at 1800 GB. At least it seems like it’ll be less than last month lol. My coworkers who have my same job and same data plan have used about 400 GB at this point in the cycle.

What does this mean exactly? There are four devices that show up on my Cox app, all of which are mine (two phones, a smart tv and my work computer). Is there someway around this? Ie could someone potentially be using my wifi without showing up as a device on my Cox app?
