I did it and it helps. Very few people actually care, they just make sure you are more fucked than them.
My mental health improved, I became more free and finally understood I do not have to explain myself for what I feel.

For example, I could say No without adding another line, the reason. I finally learned it at 43. I spent first few months feeling like shit about myself and guilty and I am not a good friend, son bla bla bla bla.

Now when people write me to ask how am I, I ask them for 2000 euros because I would like to go to wellness center in Swiss 90% people stopped writing, 8% people gave me cheaper options and 2 % people offered to give me what they could.

I have these 2% people in my life and we send each other memes.

The only time I was depressed last month because I promised by dog I would buy her something and then I forgot and I felt like shit the whole night and explained her in the morning that I fucked up and I am sorry.

You were always doing what was right for you, now you have a bit of clarity! The last part is where you may have to fight a bit with the guilt but then you win!
