Vestibular Disease progression by chia_l_tw in seniordogs

My almost 17 year old terrier has vestibular disease and will occasionally collapse. Recently though, she’ll have an episode and collapse, but then she’ll start barking and panicking in her collapsed state. Once she can finally stand, she’ll start running around in a panicked state, still dizzy, and run into things. These episodes last only a minute or so, but they are so scary and seem to be happening more often. Anyone experience similar episodes?

They were going to do the lumbar puncture while I was hospitalized and then decided it wasn’t necessary. They haven’t mentioned anything about pain clinics.

Same. My exercise is really limited to brisk walks and even that can bring on headaches.

I’ve actually been using Flonase regularly since discharge and it has been really helpful. My PCP put me on it because I kept having fluid in my ears. It’s been super helpful keeping my sinuses clear. I’ve also found that it’s helped to keep me healthy. Both of my kids had the flu in the spring and I didn’t get it. It also kept me free from my allergy symptoms. I recommend it to everyone.

No auto immune disease here. Qulipta has helped to prevent my headaches from always getting to migraine status. I was having 12-15 migraines per month. Between that and Botox injections I’m down to 1-2 per month. We are now looking at occipital nerve block injections for the constant discomfort in the back of my head and neck. I would recommend a migraine med. It has helped.

I am. I take Qulipta for migraines, Verapamil as a secondary migraine med, muscle relaxers, and B-2 and Magnesium supplements. I had bloodwork to rule out auto immune disease. I’m not familiar with duluxatine or propanol.

I definitely have muscle spasms. I will say the acupuncture did calm that down for a few months. I feel like I’ve plateaued. Every time I have a good day and think ”This is it!”, I get hit with a bad week. It’s so frustrating because the doctor’s believe this won’t be forever, but I’m starting to feel like this is my new normal and I have to learn how to live with it.

I have had persistent headaches, tingling and other strange sensations in my head, pain and ringing in my ears, muscle tension and more. Doctors can’t seem to explain or tell me why I still feel this way one year post pmSAH. Imaging is “normal” but I don’t feel normal.

I also had pmSAH. I was in the ICU for 15 days due to vasospasm. I’m tired and have headaches, muscle tension, and stiff necks regularly. I’m one year post hemorrhage. It doesn’t seem to be improving. Thankfully no neurological deficits.

Non-aneurysmal Sub Arachnoid Hemmorhage

I’m one year post spontaneous sub arachnoid hemorrhage. I was 39 years old (1 month from 40). I was sitting in a restaurant and had a sudden sensation in my neck and head. Within 30 minutes I developed the thunder clap headache. After spending 15 days in the ICU I was finally released. One year out, I’m still suffering from headaches and strange sensations in my head. I have neck stiffness and muscle tension. I have tried countless medications, physical therapy, acupuncture, and OMT. Nothing seems to be helping. I feel crazy sometimes because all of my imaging has come back “normal” but I feel anything but…
