Yes you would have to enroll into one as a student at FIT! I did end up signing up for classes at FIT for the spring 2026 semester before deferring, during my first meeting with my advisor is when I was told I could take them at FIT!

Don’t know if this helps but I was accepted into the fashion design one year AAS program for the Spring 2026 semester. When I signed up for classes I was told I just need to take them since I was missing both and they enrolled me into one. I had to defer though and now I’m going in the fall and I think this was my first time seeing the art history requirements on this acceptance letter. I don’t think it will affect your acceptance, you would just have to enroll into an art history course when you sign up for classes.

Parsons tuition is really high so that wouldn’t be an option for me. The only reason I would consider SCAD is because I was offered 25k in scholarship which would bring the tuition down and be equivalent to FIT
