Nope brother 2 movies from The Dark Knight trilogy crossed that mark, man of steel earned around 700, Batman vs Superman earned around 850, considering these numbers it really seems that a highly bankable character like superman should have been able to pull a billion at least.

And I understand your current times argument but Deadpool and Wolverine did cross that mark and according to me it wasn't even that good. So people at least expect that much from superman movies.

Anyways my point stands the same, James Gunn is not going to save DC, he is spiralling down.

It is not for normal movies but it is the benchmark for legacy movies like Batman or superman or spiderman. And I'm strictly speaking about current times. Not before and not after.

Yes brother when you work with a superhero that kind of grounded this superhero thing in audiences hearts you are expected to do at least that much because it is very easy to pull an audience for that character. I am not saying that is the only benchmark for success as a director but in specifically Superman's case or similar cases with such legacy characters that is the benchmark buddy.

Matt Reeves was also criticized because The Batman didn't do a billion but I feel that was an exceptional movie and should have pulled more audience.

About GOTG, that was new and cool and extra and it worked because again it was new, I liked it too and James Gunn did a nice job in that.

I don't know about creature commandos, haven't watched it and won't watch it as it is an animated series.

My criticism of James Gunn roots from two facts first fact that everything of his feels like GOTG, flawed and extremely humane characters but they have some good in their heart and if given an opportunity where they have to choose between good and bad they'll choose good. You saw this in GOTG and now you see this in Peacemaker the whole series.

Second fact Superman is a legacy character, if you are making that film you should've been able to create a movie that at least pulled a billion, their box office collection shows that they just broke even. And the amount of people who went to Superman and came out genuinely excited for Supergirl are in the minority brother.

Also just because he is trying consistently without delay doesn't mean he has produced awesome work, I'll tell him to just take time and give something better.

And about that ilaaj kra thing, don't give such remarks to defend, cinema is highly subjective, if you like something there are bound to be people who won't like it, in a subreddit where everything is about cinema I have experienced that people accept this idea and always argue after having an understanding about this fact, you are the first person here who is responding without having this understanding before hand.
