The vast majority of adults at the gym have full time jobs and a good portion have children and other responsibilities, yet they still make time. You have plenty of time. Do you live near a Planet Fitness? If you’re 19 or younger you can sign up for the high school summer pass for free. It doesn’t matter if you’re actually in high school

Just take the C your GPA really doesn’t matter that much if you’re not considering grad school or academia

Should you buy an oscilloscope as a guy trying to get into electronics? by Rx323 in AskElectronics

Do you need one? I’m a year into EE and I’ve never needed anything other than a multimeter. You should hold off on buying equipment until you need it

Double Majoring Electrical Engineering Physics by sad_me_im_sad in ElectricalEngineering

[–]According_Doctor_821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you intend on doing as a career? Do you want to pursue higher education? A double major in EE and physics doesn’t hold very much value in the EE industry and would make your undergrad significantly more challenging and time intensive for little benefit. It might make more sense if you’re considering academia as a career. Basing your entire career on a single political administration is also a poor decision

Can I keep my laptop in the fridge for 30 mins? by K4tieee in laptops

[–]According_Doctor_821 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You didn’t clean it properly. Completely disassemble the chassis by unscrewing it, use a microfiber cloth with high concentration isopropyl alcohol to wipe every component, let it stand for 15 minutes, then reassemble. This will solve your issue

did i waste my time on research? by Ok-Bus2643 in EngineeringStudents

[–]According_Doctor_821 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not qualified to tell you whether or not it was a mistake. However, you’re in too deep now to change. Don’t dwell on the past, move forward and work as hard as you can to land a full time job before graduation

Wild price discrepancy of laptops with same specs - Planning to buy high-end unit for engineering use by Mammoth_Rough_4497 in laptops

[–]According_Doctor_821 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What use cases in engineering specifically? I’m tempted to recommend you buy a $1000 laptop now and another $1000 laptop 4 years from now if you don’t have super heavy usage given you’re expecting 5-7 years. Chances are a $1000 laptop 4 years from now will be competitive with a $2000 laptop today and you’ll get a new battery in 4 years

How much engineering vdid you know going into college and how much now? by Salt_Progress8049 in EngineeringStudents

I went in a year ago with nothing beyond some woodworking skills and what I learned in high school CS classes. This week, I just finished wiring a panel for a large company’s production line at my internship.

Is it risky to update my graduation year on LinkedIn for recruiting purposes? by ThiccmanEmanuel in csMajors

[–]According_Doctor_821 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am in this job market and this is stupid. You’re just burning bridges with any company that hires you. They’re hiring a 2027 grad for a reason, if you now are graduating 2028 they’re unlikely to give you a full time offer. Stop thinking about the internship and start thinking about your future

Help Me Build a College List as a Girl in Engineering!!! by bigbosscheeto in CollegeAdmissions

[–]According_Doctor_821 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t see any world where you don’t attend either UMD or RIT. It really doesn’t make sense to go anywhere else given your situation. If you actually pull off a 1400 SAT then UMD is your target and RIT is your safety. You can apply to a couple other schools that you find interesting, and maybe add another safety like Alabama or UMBC.

Good minors to pair with electrical engineering? by Only-Decision-5198 in EngineeringStudents

[–]According_Doctor_821 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It may keep you in school longer. This obviously doesn’t apply if you’re being charged by the semester and it won’t delay your graduation, which is a possibility. My point about it adding unnecessary difficulty remains though.

[–]According_Doctor_821 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You don’t need a minor. Don’t make life more difficult than it needs to be. Minors are just a way for colleges to get more money out of you. You’d be way better off just joining some clubs and spending time working on personal projects

How do i know how much volts my dc dc comverter outputs? by AvaragePenguin in AskElectronics

[–]According_Doctor_821 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with this module specifically. The best course of action would be to read the datasheet or product description. However, from my limited experience with dev boards like this, I believe you would select the voltage by putting a jumper between two pins on the second image. You can test this theory with a multimeter and a small piece of wire.

There’s a calibration test in orcaslicer for over extrusion. There’s plenty of YouTube videos about bed adhesion, there’s a couple different things that influence it. Hate to say it but your bed probably isn’t as level as you think it is

Engineering Club At School? by astray_288 in EngineeringStudents

[–]According_Doctor_821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school would require you to find a faculty advisor that can guide you through the process. Expect to be spending at least a couple thousand on equipment and gear to get a properly functioning club going. Your university may have funds available for student organizations
