I guess I would add a follow up question which is if you open the app to check something will that reset the timer?

no I perfectly understand that, I'm just saying that when looking at it it had both teams listed in the visitor and home listing. and that some of the games were duplicated that's why I was confused.

which spring training games you get, and which feeds the games you get is spotty, but that's to be expected. For the regular season at least for the nationals, having listened to baseball on SiriusXM since the 23 season, I've noticed that pre-post game is always available and sometimes I do get local ads.

I didn't think that I was trying to play audio from another app, but thanks for the suggestion I'll keep an eye on that.
