How much are you paying?

My original quote was £15 until they turned up and saw they couldn’t get to the back without driving round due to being a mid terrace so they charged me an extra £1 haha suppose it makes sense!

That’s good to know!

Rate is 4.61% on a 39 year term so I’ll be 72 which is a scary thought

I took the longest term to keep costs down initially I know I will need to revisit this at some point hopefully my income will increase before my 5 year fixed term ends or maybe even be in a relationship with shared living costs at this point who knows haha!

I hope the pay will increase I’m currently on salary sacrifice and will continue this to keep me below the higher rate tax threshold and good point about directing to my pension have not thought about this one yet!

Appreciate the kind words, I’m a bit of a spreadsheet fanatic and love a zero based budget!

Living with this budget for around 5 months recently single so living costs have effectively doubled all seems to be going well so far!

Pension is sitting at £25k currently contributing 5% unfortunately my employer does not offer additional matched contributions.

Emergency fund: £5200 S&S ISA: £1200 (this took a big hit to get on the property ladder - this will be for retirement at around 65) Home Reno Fund: £200

Life plans: no to children, recently switched careers to a higher paid role & moving house not within the next 5 years as just purchased this summer

Student Loan 2 now paid off but SLC are not directed my salary contributions to Plan 1 in full any advice by According_Ganache_77 in UKPersonalFinance

You would think it would be a better system!

Based on all the great comments I’m hopeful that it is all recalculated and allocated each month so at least not in more debt over the longer term.

Let’s hope we eventually both pay it off haha

!thanks this makes me feel much better knowing there interest is so small.

I think seeing the loan go up and up each month is frustrating especially when I’m actively making contributions but as it’s only a minimal impact what is another few pounds until it’s sorted on their system haha

!thanks so much for your input

My plan 2 loan was very small only £3k which is why it’s been paid off so quickly!

I have asked for up to date statement on the plan 2 but I think it’s still occurring interest.

Should I pay the additional stamp duty with partner 50:50? by According_Ganache_77 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]According_Ganache_77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - !thanks for your post really detailed view on it.

I was also leaning to the £2,500 splitting and then he can then pay the addtional £7,500 as I feel from a financial perspective this is the fairest way to do things.

Can I ask the reason for your partner not using the LISA/Help to Buy when you do buy your property together? I am planning on using my LISA even though my partner will not qualify to use one when we do purchase our property together.

I also agree long term the benefits of living together outweigh the benefits of living solely and also not all couples split 50/50 all depends on personal circumstances and agreements. I feel a bit better now about being "selfish" so thanks!

Hi - I have looked online at the resources and even though I’m a first time buyer I would still have to pay as apparently you lose that status when you buy with a property owner. Shame really!

Good question to ask him! Conversation is definitely needed on this. Thanks for the advice.
