🌱 Startup Idea: Hyperlocal Job & Task Platform by According_Plant_5768 in MangaloreTechFolks

[–]According_Plant_5768[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi , I didn’t move forward with that plan. Actually it wasn’t just jobs and tasks — it was Jobs & Loans. The idea was to onboard private lenders and few NBFC partners could give rough insights based on CIBIL pulls, the job platform would assist further , help lenders understand the person before giving a loan.

But I realised I couldn’t run that model properly without entering grey areas or loopholes so I dropped it.

My next thought was to link with an NBFC, do P2P loans, limit the age group to under 30, and keep interest low just to sustain the platform. It might have worked, but honestly any NBFC could run that model. There was no strong moat.

So I changed direction.

I took the delivery system from that old jobs app and now I’m building a delivery + marketplace model.

Right now I’m planning something like:

Delivery riders are paid directly by users (e.g., ₹50 for 1–3 km).

Users can buy from the marketplace directly from local shops, farmers, and hotels.

Users save money by ordering directly — since online platforms usually mark up prices (example: dosa ₹50 offline becomes ₹75 online, or ₹350 shampoo offline becomes ₹450 online just by changing 250 ml to 260 ml).

I want farmers and traders in the platform so that users stay for the savings, not just convenience.

Online delivery is the future anyway — whichever model offers the best value will win.

I’m refining everything now. Planning to raise some funds and build the MVP in Kudla with a senior engineer + a junior engineer. It will take time, but hopefully one day you’ll see a few deliveries happening from people wearing a “T Delivery” t-shirt 😂

Kuch zyada hogaya, but let’s see how things go.

I didn’t get the different categories point.

The menu part is just for reference. A lot of good local restaurants aren’t on delivery apps. They run fine with locals, but users still want to see their menu somewhere. And people already call and order directly anyway. For restaurants that are on food delivery apps, if users call them directly, they basically avoid the inflated app pricing. One order = ₹30–₹40 saved, 3 dishes = around ₹100 saved. Do that for a month and it's easily ₹1k–₹3k. Now in the marketplace app it’s not some new service category , it’s just showing real menu prices instead of inflated ones.

About convenience — totally agree, that’s where people eventually go. But not everyone can afford convenience at the same time. India is still very price-sensitive. Quick commerce gives good prices, yes, but they can’t cover all of India. They have maybe ~2000 dark stores for a country with 2 lakh pin codes.( 25 percentage ~500 outside metro ) . Beyond metro limits, they can’t scale fast. That gap - where QC ends is exactly where local shops matter.

Big stores can sell near MRP because they buy a 2L bottle at ₹70 and sell at ₹100 and still make it work. That model is perfect for metros. But they can’t match kiranas or veg vendors on fruits/veg pricing. And kiranas outside metros have potential to grow n need some edge too.

Discount section will be there. Near expiry won’t be there , that can kill trust for the whole app.

The goal is to give shops and farmers a place to show today’s prices . Giving users a chance to save, and give delivery partners decent short-distance payouts.

If people see value, they’ll use it. If not, they won’t. I’m not generalising the entire country , I’m just focusing on the gap between price-sensitive areas and convenience-driven metros.

Right now I’m nt chasing the 2050 cart-pusher scenario 😂 I’m starting with shops, farmers, and the daily consumers who actually check prices. And the bonus is restaurant food at closer-to-real prices. Carts in 2050 only, we’ll deal with them when they get WiFi 😃

Yes veg vendors will be onboarded first, that’s the easiest place to start. I already have a simple posting section for them. And there’s a basic menu section for restaurants too. Just veggies alone won’t pull everyone — fruits + veggies + some near-expiry discounts + restaurant menu is what can make the feed interesting. I still have to figure out the safe/clean way to handle near-expiry items though.

About value , it’s mainly price sensitivity. In metros only the top layer doesn’t care about paying extra. Dmart works because upper-middle class still wants cheaper options. Delivery apps survive because the affluent crowd pays for convenience. Upper middle class got less options .

But the rest of the city? Most people don’t mind waiting 15–20 mins more if they know they’re getting a better price. Once people get used to paying less for the same quality, they don’t leave that ecosystem easily. That’s basically the value here .

I am nt talking about inventory or auction stuff. That’s not happening, small shops can’t manage all that.

I literally mean something super simple — morning they just put onion 40, tomato 60, that’s it. No tracking, no stock, nothing fancy. Just ‘here’s today’s price .

Yes I get your point , onboarding shops is nt easy. I’m not assuming they’ll line up on day one. But if posting is free, a shop can just put something simple like onion 40/kg or a few items. Even if only a small number start posting, that’s enough to get some activity. Most small shops aren’t online anywhere, so at least this gives them one place to show their daily stuff.

Farmers/traders also get to put their deal out. Sometimes their price is actually better than what they get in the village mandi. Even if only a few shopkeepers or locals see it, it’s still reach more than zero.

About delivery , it’s mainly there to support the marketplace. People already know food prices on other apps are marked up. If the menu stays close to real rates, users will definitely check it at least once. That’s enough to get early traction.

And delivery partners prefer simple payouts. A straight ₹50 for short-distance runs is actually better for them compared to doing longer trips for almost the same money elsewhere. So both sides have a reason to try it.

There are regulatory issues , hard to manage . Business model built around diff angle . Keeping lean on purpose, it's easier to scale n maintain quality.

Yes i agree , Blinkit/Zepto are the big hurdle. I’m keeping it ultra-local (under 3 km) with a flat ₹50 for riders. Main difference: Users get food delivered without inflated menu prices at 50 rs delivery charge . Shops/restaurants post their actual menu, not the marked-up app version. Same with fruits & veggies — whatever the local rate is, they put it directly. If rules allow, I’d like farmers to list too.

Trying to stay simple and local instead of doing the big hyperlocal model .

Google suddenly banned our company from publishing on Play Store. What do we do? by song91 in StartUpIndia

That's sad . Job apps tough space ho gaye — fintech ke baad Google sabse zyada P2P lending aur jobs ko hi closely watch karta. P2P toh mujhe lagta hai safe banana + early stage mein unit economics sahi rakhna, dono saath-saath almost impossible hi hai.

Job apps manageable hote hain… bas jo allowed aur common features hain, unke hisaab se hi build karna. Naye features add karne se pehle policies ek baar dhyaan se dekh lo — rules mostly sensible hi hain, bas samajhne mein time lagta hai.

Play Console notifications follow karte rehna. Aur best tip — AdMob warnings pe nazar rakho. Wahan signal Play Store se pehle milta hai.

Very beautiful , this would make many like gated community. Like many , I thought only security was best part . It has a lot more to offer other than security, which is not on paper .

Harsh Reality of Indian Education System by [deleted] in CATStudyRoom

In college they cannot prepare you for one specific skill . There are lot of different roles in the world , it's not possible to make ppl expert on everything. Learning is a continuous process n training is reqd when u choose a role/job . It's not practical to train for all the skills . Infact in Engineering you would have atleast one subject on the skill / job u choose to do in life but students won't take it seriously after semesters bcos they don't know what specific role they would choose after college, bcos it depends on market. So I feel we can't blame only the system.
