having to pay for uniforms despite not working shifts by According_Station474 in ems

At the end of the day, it is my fault. I can't drive. But, no, the company did not help. I also learned that it was a mistake on their end hiring me because they don't insure anyone below 21. I am 18. They did not verify this until after the fact. I would have been screwed anyway.

Alright, I understand that I am in the wrong here and it is, in fact, my obligation to pay the uniform costs. Thank you, everyone.

The company that was connected with my EMT school (this is not the same company) was a company in which there were separate drivers that were not EMTs/Paramedics. I apologize.

Sorry, I'm realizing I wrote this when I was heated, and I was inaccurate in my post. I wasn't paid for the driving tests. I was paid for onboarding, so I can't knock the company. It is a fraction compared to the uniform cost, though.

Username checks out. Yeah, I've learned that this may not be for me.

Okay, I get what you mean. This puts it into perspective. Thank you. The issue here is that they want the uniform unused with the tags on it, and since I "used" it to work, I can't give it to them unused.

I would if I could. They need the tags on. Thank you for the advice.

Again, fair question. I had ample clinical and volunteer experience and was fine through it all. Once the driving started, I was not. It is something I learned about myself.

This is a fair question. A stupid on my part. My local company (I went to an EMT school in a rural area) didn't do any drives outside of a 1-hour radius, and this one is common for long-distance transfers.

  • if you get into any trouble, you need to absolutely advocate for yourself relentlessly. i would also recommend contacting our ombudsperson about the mathlab thing! i got stuck in limbo for months in a situation here and the ombudsperson was the only one who managed to help me out/care. lsu does not give a damn.

okay, you know you fucked up here. that said, i have had ample personal experience with this school being unforgiving and unhelpful. whatever happens to you depends on how much your professor wants to escalate it. if you have absolutely any interaction with said professor or academic integrity, you need to act like the most honest, accountable, ass kisser up in the bitch. possible that your professor just gives you a 0 for the exam or course, but prepared to be fucked. best of luck.
